Wasn't the Supercharged SS faster than the V8 version? As far as i can recall it was 171kw vs 179kw and the V8 was significantly heavier...

You could get a 195kw upgrade to the V8 SS which made it quicker than the Super6.

The BA auto would be slower off the mark but would be in front no doubt at the end of 1/4 mile

My bad. The 1/4 mile results actually were:

BA XR6 NA auto - 15.8 secs @ 146kph
VY SV6 supercharged auto - 15.4 secs @ 145kph

lol, the BA has more torque than the blown VY (380 vs 375nm) :P

The article reads that the SV6 gets a half second jump on the XR6 to 60kph, then the XR6 keeps with it from there on. I can see where that 0.4 second ET lag comes from, the BA's fat **** and its **** first gear ratio.

Thats ok i wasnt sure myslef and had too look it up, I remember it because of the comment of the torque converter unlocking and now having a V6 i understand that comment perfectly.

I would like too drive a XR6 over 100 and see how it goes with the better diff gears, My brothers Fairmont has some serious overtaking speed on freeways and it's stock ex detective car.

At a dyno day I went to a while back, there was a VT S with a blown 6, it had extractors and exhaust, and it only dynoed a couple more kw than my XR6 with similar mods :

They don't make huge power numbers, But they pull huge torque. I think some of the 11-12 seconds ones are around 300kw Just seen this one.
