Black looks nice but other people don't see you. I used to own a white 2dr Escort. I painted it gloss black. It came out quite good for a 1st attempt at painting many years ago. My only problem is as stated above "people don't see you". As Kaytonk said also you need to drive with your lights on. I lost count of the amount of people who would just turn into my lane, not seeing me. My horn was the most used accessory in the car.

Black rocks. Its the toughest colour. It is hard to keep clean but its not as hot as some people think. For a new car, just get a sunroof (heat rises, especially through holes in the roof) and a good window tint and you will be fine.

1. Sure that wasn't a Vette? I read that about radar and Corvettes - but the chassis engine bounced back even though the fibreglass was a bit "transparent".

Had an AU XR6 sedan in black and swore black and blue I would never get another, but, if my next purchase from Henry is a Typhoon she will be black. It the tuffest colour!

Okay, so I think every single reply made to my original post has made me even more confident that I'm headed down the right path with this idea, but there's one post that really said all I needed to hear.

That was exactly the response I was waiting for.

I'm now 99.94% sure that I'll be painting my Landau black. But that all might change yet.

As for not being seen, it's gonna be a car I plan to drive pretty much only during the day and only in the dry (no gutter rails is what I'm thinking at the minute). If the sun bouncing off the full chrome trim isn't enough for it to be noticed, then the exhaust note should.

dont spray it satin black if u want it to look clean i sprayed my xbcoupe satin black i keep it like that for 6 months because after i had washed it it looked like it hadnt been washed so i changed it to a color that u could see a shine on.

on the polyester spray u need a good compressor and have to be able to work really fast a spray painter who was telling me about said he only got halfway down the side of the car as it went off in the spray pot.

Black is a sensational colour, my best advice is
Wash it as little as possible and when you do, do it like no other car you have ever done
Microfibre or wool wash mitts (at least two and up to six), four buckets (two x shampoo) with 4 litres of purified water in them and aim hose and or pressure gun side on when rinsing.
Glide the mitts over the paint, do not scrub with any pressure and wash only in side to side motions
Dry with a microfibre drying towel or air force blaster and enhance the colour with paint sealants, waxes and quick detail sprays that protect
