Historically, part of the Mustang's appeal has always been that the base 6 was so affordable. That really doesn't apply in our context, where even a 4 cylinder job will cost you way north of $50k. |

My Personal car is still my XR4, (and yeah, on a few occasions I seriously contemplated upgrading to an XR5 Turbo.)
I dare say that around town, it still out handles a Mustang. Just seems to me to be a weird demographic Ford are aiming for with this car. And the price point isn't particularly tempting. Even at their price, and with the waiting list, there's nothing that compares with the V8 Mustang (especially once the local V8's disappear.) But if you want a 4 cylinder turbo, there's a lot of competition, and a lot cheaper. |

Why are people so quick to comment on things that dont interest them? If its not yoru cup of tea thats ok but why bag it out.
An EB mustang will go toe to toe with most "performance" falcons from the past few years and thats before a quick tune.

While there is nothing wrong with owning a 2.3L Mustang, and has its obvious benefits such as better fuel economy and lighter on the front end, I do believe that the reason 9 out of 10 stangs sold here in Oz are the V8 version is mainly a psychological one and a male trait.
The Mustang represents an iconic muscle car, and few men want to be humiliated by their friends, associates and people who come up and ask them about their car, to have to tell them... It's only the four cylinder job. To most people it just seems so wrong. |

Can you read? I said do some research. You said the only difference is the engine, when it clearly isn't. I don't want a mustang so why would I buy one?
Also thete is nothing wrong with the technology. Just because you don't like it. SYNC is actually quite cool. Unless you have enough the first version like I do.

Haven't you people heard? People don't want V8's anymore, EVERYONE wants smaller engined small cars. V8's, SUV's and larger engined Utes will never sell, I heard all about it on Today Tonight....

There is an old Turkish story Turks lover there tales about a cat watching his master eat fish as the master eating his fish away cats waiting in anticipation, once the cat realises he not going to get any, the cat disgruntled, comments I don’t like fish any way. It makes more sense when said in Turkish Its a story said to those who bag out what they can’t have

Some of you guys amaze me, I am an old fart now , or so my kids tell me , but I would gladly trade of all the electronic gizmos for more grunt, bigger brakes and road hugging suspension. I have always liked the mustang and the new one is no exception but it has to be the V8 for me.
It's all in how it drives not what i can do whilst i am driving but that's the way all cars are going with technology as they can't cheaply squeeze any more performance or fuel economy out of the current crop. I know most of the younger members on this forum appreciate all this new technology , and that's fine by me, but somewhere along the way the actual driving of the car is becoming secondary to the goodies it has. Glad I did the majority of my driving in an era where it was what mattered. Long live the new Stang. GT450 |

How it drives depends on the technology used to develop it. Technology doesn't always mean gadgets. Ironically cars these days with all the technology of the day stuffed into them handle better than those of the yesteryear. So they should as the industry advances. An EB4 Mustang performance wouldn't have been sneezed at 10, 20, 30, 40 years back, the figures from its performance would have been desired back then (and still are to some degree). SYNC is not a gadget or a gimmick, it is an integrated system allowing you to control the climate control, radio, phone, etc. The latter integration ensures people keep their mind on the road whilst being able to take and make calls. Just because you don't do it doesn't make it any less worthwhile. Technology is evolving faster and faster and to be able to just "plug and play" no matter where you go makes everything a lot easier. None of these detract from the driving experience itself, the current Mustang is arguably the best iteration.

No I agree with you, depending what the car is for, hence why I like the sprint its exactly that big motor and big brakes it has just the simple gadgets enough to look modern that's about it doesn't even have push button start where as my mustang (old) has a huge lump of engine, and that's about it, it goes well brakes yeah just compared to the sprint and the old power steering is so light it feels like if you flick it, it will rotate like the wheel of fortune. as for the new mustang I love it 4 or 8, like every one I would prefer the 8 but there a market for the 4 also lets not forget the new GT40 is not an 8

I'd go for the EB Mustang over the V8 mainly for rego and fuel costs. It helps though that I'm a fan of turbo 4 cyl cars and would have one of them over a V8 any day.
But if I was paying that much money for a car currently, the Focus RS would get my cash. I don't want a 2 door car.

Every Mustang sale is a win really for us who want/can afford a V8 version. The more they sell the more goes into the coffer's.

My old man test drove the 2.3L Mustang when it first became available, There were no 8's to test at that point in time. Since it drove so well and had ample power, plus 95% of the time it'd only be used by my mother to drive to work and to the shops - He placed an order that day.
Then later on there was an 8 at the same dealer finally available for test drive. Pretty much when he first sat in it and turned the key he changed his mind about the 2.3L. Hes now waiting on his V8! Let me guess, you're a hairdresser? |
