It's very interesting how all the other manufacturers are staying very quiet instead of digging the knife in. Mabey they have something to hide hey!.

Good point...as I said before, people won't be lining up to have their VW's "fixed"...the ones I've spoken to have said they won't.
They do care about emissions in the UK primarily because the road tax system takes them into account. People who have bought a VW may find their road tax (rego) going up and they won't be happy.
