Seems like one big money grab.
I've only ever been to one v8 meeting and that was 1998 at mallala. Only good for watching on TV Really this sport. Speedway and other sports are more fun and cheaper Whilst I like the V8s, I wouldn't pay money to see it first hand

Sandown was my favorite V8 round, I loved attending. Some years I just went to spectate, some years I had my car exhibited. I loved the social aspect and the motorsport aspect. This year was the first I had to miss due to varied reasons, and what I have reading has truly surprised me; $30 EXTRA per day to sit in the grandstand? So if I choose not to, where am I to stand so I can view the race? Are there now viewing mounds which appear to be provided at other racetracks so you have a choice?
It's an expensive weekend per person, no doubt about that. But to add an extra $60-90 to that in this day and age is pushing it. The v8's have pretty much lost me over the last couple of years, but I always held out for Sandown. Not any more, not at those prices.

Without doubt, I got my motorhome camp ground passes for Bathurst and there's no admission tickets included this year,(2 previously included), but the price still went up by a few $.

People still pay and go, so the milk it for all it's worth, every sport is the same, take you son the footy...200 bucks gone!
Took my 9 year old to Bathurst on non race day, entry + food + a t-shirt for the young bloke and I was 300 in the hole. Saw a facebook post recently from my car club, looking of for GTs to do a lap before the race this year. If you put your hand up to volunteer YOUR car they wanted YOU to pay them $50 bucks ....HAHA WTF? Buy your own damn GTs and take them around the track then, you money grabbing maggots. |

Those prices are ridiculous. Sorry but I cannot justify spending that sort of coin anymore and will choose to support my local or smaller racing factions instead at Mallala to get my thrills. At least I will have my anus intact.

This is just another little nail in the coffin of V8SC.
Selling the TV rights to pay TV was the end of the road for me after 40 years of support. I am not the only one who has left the sport because of the continual money grab. It does not interest me any more. Sad. |

Yep. The thing is SC look at in the long term. 5 years from now all you blokes will have put up with the gouging or given up following SC. A new batch of overcharged souls will be stung for the greed of SC. They should really be ashamed. Money being god to them..

And another thing .......... A very smart operator sold the V8SC business at the peak of it's success to a less-smart buyer who will now experience the decline of this once-proud category. The response seems to be to "rip the guts out of it" while we can. Good luck. |

Well considering my family aren't fully into cars = no sale. Shame would have been nice to have a picnic on the grass with a few cars flying around the track, but it was going to cost mega bucks, so when to the local park for free. The way things are you need to be a full on enthusiast, not just a casual observer who would like to go for a look for half the day, in the end their fan base will decline because the average family would have never gone for a look. |

.... and it was a close finish if the leading cars were on the same lap...
.... or going back even further and the driver had to use the factory wheel brace to change wheels.... Do that today and everyone will complain the cars are tooooooo slow and it's soooooo boring. .

Foxtel ruins everything.

I'm a bit confused here. Is the Sandown and Bathurst races going to be televised on FTA?
Channel 10 and 10HD seems to be saying this. Is this an alternative to foxtel? |

I remember the 80's and the Adelaide GP and then going up to the Gold Coast and watching CART and Nascar touring the track at 60k's for a couple of hours. Chalk and Cheese. F1 has now lost me because of their refusal to accept danger in any form. Watching an F1 car defying the laws of nature was what made it exciting. Now it's win the start and go round and round for 50 laps. 500cc bike racing was a blast, but they ended up being unrideable.
