I would imagine then that all those XY , XA and XB GT owners will be lining up to trade up their old 5.8 litre GT's for one of these 4 banger Mustangs as well..... It will be quicker than those too... The ecoboost Mustang needs to be compared against its modern day rivals from other marques. It will live and die in sales by those comparisons , not by the fact it is potentially quicker than a 10 year old V8. |

Yeah - WRX and Golf GTi have been showcasing this for years. Doesnt take the Mustang EcoBoost to highlight this now......4 banger turbo engines have been holding their own for quite some time.

They were quick, but they weren't known for low-end torque or even good fuel economy. The lack of low-end torque was even more evident in the WRX's AWD system, where the higher parasitic loss swallowed up all the grunt it needed to launch it off the line quickly. It just felt like it bogged down, the rpms dropped a little too quickly while you waited for the turbo to kick in.

Nope, doesn't really interest me to be honest. But that's a GTDI just like the EcoBoost. Very different from the older 4 cyl turbos.

With the great performance and choice of the 2.3 litre 4 and the V8, where does the V6 fit in the range and is it really needed?

The Roush one = WIN.
Squint and it looks like a tough(er) version of a GTR. And that is no bad thing!! I can't wait to get one of these cars.

V6 is bottom of the range and for North America only, its only advantage is a lower purchase price. The rental companies will buy loads of them.

V6 will be just as quick as the ecoboost also.
2014 model V6s run high 13s stock.

Impressive for the Ecoboost Mustang straight out of the box, with a bit of tuning potential to be unveiled im sure.
The V8 is about where i expected, very excited to jump behind the wheel of one of these. |

Look forward to seeing and hearing them on Australian roads.

I wonder if I can fit a certain 4 litre turbo motor into one of these things.

No wonder FoMoCo made the last ever Falcon look so damn ugly.
They are pushing us toward the Mustang. Definately no comaprison between the new Mustang & a Mondeo rear & Lancer front end. |

A couple more videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjhyZPij2PE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPLx38ECyLg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKpFSLHLmdM The V6 positioning is interesting, that you can't option it up otherwise I bet a lot of people who want a Mustang but aren't interested in performance would go that way. Something to remember when looking at performance figures is they take of 2-3 tenths for roll-out from their quarter mile times, some even do that for 0-60! They are not the same times that the Aussie mags record. Last edited by outback_ute; 22-09-2014 at 12:52 PM. |

Better spool due to the pulsing of exhaust gases no longer interfere with each other.

You can certainly hear a bit of "Windsor" in the Coyote V8
