Sounds like a terrible car. Even if it can get to 100 on 6.6. Is it really worth 50k. Does it have anything else going for it other then more power.

I suppose that's what happen when you get HPF to modify your car... you get a dyno queen not a fast car

The Walkinshaw Cruze isnt make by Walkinshaw, an article I read said it was done by Horsepower Factory in Melbourne.

make the power.. shift the weight.. its either not making that power or got some serious torque tags holding it back from blowing its gearbag all over the road...

The devils in the detail.
First things first, most of these so called 'journo's' cant drive worth a damn. Thats been proven over and over. Especially in drive.com.au's case. Second, even if this cruze is making 180kw, the 80-120 overtaking time will prove it beyond any doubt, wheres that in the test data? Third, its a holden cruze....... who would pay 50k for a clearly hastily slapped together kit. The motor is only 1.4L to start with, so drivability would always be compromised trying to boost it. For 50k, I'd be hunting down an RS Focus and blowing the doors of pretenders everywhere. |

I still think the name alone will sell these cars even though there are a lot better cars available on the market for a better price

I think I would wait until another is tested. Definitely not right. 3 seconds from its claimed time is huge.

Only 2l turbos in the BTCC now, Cruze isn't in the BTCC now...
However, the cruze uses a 1.6 Turbo in the WTCC.

Must have changed in the last few years then, they never used to allow turbos.

I read about this. But it makes sense really... Holden bet on Holden fans buying it as they wont ask questions or read the fine print.
It's got Wilki all over it so they buy buy buy, that what Holden bet on.

Sad thing is despite all the test info and reviews saying its sloppy people still won't care and go and buy it anyway. Theres always that corner of the market that walk in and say "I'm looking for a car thats fast and I have $X to spend" and will be fed this thing.
Others will get it for the **** factor and others just cuz it has the walki stuff on it. Despite how much value for money they would get on an 86 and how much better it would be to drive they'll get this thing and think they're special |

It's a Holden... it's sells itself. adding Walkingshaw badges will only make it more desirable

I dont know why people rely so heavily on times recorded by a professional driver on a professional sticky race track etc.
For me, i want something relevant, so i dont really care whether Drive etc are good drivers or not. They need to delineate the performance an average Joe can get on an average road in average conditions. Professional drag times have their place, but not in 99% of real world situations. It's definitely good to see what a car can do under 'perfect' situations. However as far as i'm concerned Drivel and the others can continue testing with passengers, no stalling, with standard rubber and on standard road surfaces with average journalist drivers. At least it has some relevance. I would also like to see 80-120km/h tests to see overtaking capability.
