IF you sell it you cant dictate how they use it? Also if they sell it you dont get first right to buy.

I sold a car once that was high powered and the meathead who bought it had it impounded for burnouts within a month. The wife rang me screaming at me at how its illegal to have those mods that were on it.

I told her to scream at her husband for driving it like a meathead. I never had it impounded or even had a fine in it.

If i remember correctly the car had stock original bottom end? It was never going to live forever with 12psi, spiro is good but he cant stop mechanical stress and failures, the car may never have failed while you owned it jase because you wouldnt have leaned on it that hard, what did this new owner expect, and wtf is he thinking that autotech should give him warranty...

Sucks to see them go to ****, had the same thing happen to my old xr6 a mate bought it crashed it twice and then it got hailed on, he sold the wreck to another mate who stripped it.....i hate knowing what happens to my old vehicles....

it does sound pretty awesome, sad that its "dead" now.

whilst i understand the logic in everyone saying "u sold the car, the new owner can do whatever they please with it", i do understand the hurt in seeing something you love/d being treated like that.

i sold an ef ghia i spent a bit of coin doing up over a period of time to make way for a newer ba turbo. biggest regret of my life. wish i had kept the fairmont. whilst i dont think its been mistreated in any way, i feel like i let the car down in some way by moving it on to get a "newer younger model".

back on topic, if the current owner had been the one to spend all the coin on the car and/or do the hard work himself, i doubt it would have ended like this. having just rolled up and purchased it with everything done, its unlikely he could have respected it for what it was.

Not sure whether you know or not, but it appears to be up for sale again. Doesn't look in the best of condition :(
Wonder if its the same owner...

Unlucky news bud . I built a nice sleeper EA over 10 yrs ago , ran a 14.0 after I built the engine .

After I sold it off ( new car for mrs ) , I was contacted about warranty on the engine ... 16 months after I sold it . Then 6 months after that , was contacted again cause the t5 had enough ...

Seriously what goes through ones mind to ring over 1 year after purchasing a 2nd hand car about " warranty " issues or parts breaking !

Crazy world man . Maybe your meant to have it back and return it to its glory ?

I'd say that any warranty coverage could only be relied upon by the person who paid the workshop to have the work done – you . Once it's sold, tough luck, it's not transferrable.

In any event if there was a warranty I'd say it would have only been for a period of no more than 12 months and would only apply to failure of the product installed, not due to failure of associated mechanicals that have suffered premature failure due to the additional horsepower.

It's just sad to see someone spend a lot of cash and put in the effort, only then for it to be sold to an idiot and thrashed to within an inch of its life. Then they have the cheek to call back and question warranties..... unbelievable

Hey, at least you got some money out of him, it's a shame but once the papers are signed and the money's in your hand they go from test pilot knucklehead to current owner. Reminds me of this:

I don't get it. Someone buys a twin turbo V8 then everyone is surprised that the owner thrashes it. WTF am I missing? Did you expect that he would just potter around like driving Miss Daisy?

I don't think anyone expected the new owner not to have fun with it but destroying the motor inside of six months is going a bit far on his part.

my EB Ghia 347ci was bought by someone for a song who turned it into a burnout car then pulled the motor/gearbox out and crushed the car.

Doesn't mean you thrash it !!! One has to know some sort of mechanical sympathy no matter how much power ..
People treat em different when you have no input in build!!
As per "Love the Beast!!!

The video you speak of... doesn't happen to be a dark blue XR8 with red pinstriping, and goes for 22 seconds?

Sounded great. Shame an idiot had to destroy such a thing.

I think asking if the turbos are under warranty is a fair enough question, doesnt hyrt to ask.

His car now he can do what he wants anyway.
