Ive got a HTC Desire HD, my missus has the Desire Z (has flip out keyboard), no problems at all. Must say though, hers is heavy due to the kb.

Nokia N97 mini (worst phone ever)

Lg something CDMA phone, almost as bad as the nokia.

Samsung $50 on special DVD player (played divx, avi etc), lasted 12.5months, just long enough for warranty to expire, replaced with a $50 LG cheapo does all the same formats, is often left on for 8hours at a time (watch simpsons every night, tv on sleep and I fall asleep lol) has lasted 2.5yrs and still going.

Speaking of Nokia...My N73 died just like that... and my current E63 has crap software but bareable.
The N73 was by far the best phone i had.

Im waiting for that E63 to die so i can go back to using my 3310 which is still soldiering on!!

Oh yeah and LG phones...garbage batteries on two of them..

Samsung laptop going great so far. Hope it stays that way!

I had endless problems with Nokia's dying just out of warranty so stopped buying that brand.
GE fridge.
Fortunately I bought an extended 5 year warranty with it and had the service guy call at least once a month for five years. Funny thing is that since the warranty expired, the fridge has soldiered on.
Saeco coffee machine
Had major failure one week out of warranty and they refused to do anything about it. As it had cost me $1400 to buy new I spent another $750 fixing it and after that it had another failure that cost $350 and now its gone again so now its headed for the tip. So thats $2500 in two years ... what a POS.

Never really had any problems with stuff not lasting. I try to buy Australian made stuff where possible because it seems to be the longest lasting.

I'll add a couple to the list:

DGTEC digital set top boxes - despite not being at the cheap end of the market they are prone to overheating. If you are lucky they simply won't play sound while hot - if you aren't lucky then they catch fire. BINNED.

Black & Decker Urnie - on the plus side I only actually paid for one but on the negative side I had it replaced every 18 months or so under warranty with the same (power switch) failure every time. In the end it wasn't worth the drive to HN to get it replaced so I got a S/S Birko instead.

Any hose/tap/garden fitting that contains any element of plastic. Throw in 10 minutes of UV exposure and more than 3 days above 30 degrees and they crack, shatter and fall apart within minutes. Little wonder why Nylex went bust. How much of this junk is in landfill must boggle the mind and concern even the most hardened "the environment doesn't matter" types. ALL my exterior tap fittings are solid brass. Without exception.

Motorola V3 Phone. Godawful reception, mp3 playback but only 4MB of non-expandable memory (???) & a slow OS. Never died on me though. Only bought it because it looked pretty

Every 3.5" bay SD Card reader ive bought died in a month. Useless.

Quantum. The very word incites terms like paperweight, as opposed to HDD.

Replacement did the same thing.
Third time lucky so far but the mechanism is pretty poor

Has a very coarse ratchet and lots of play.

My brothers SP Tools ratchet on the other hand is much nicer...cost less too.

I bought 'Cyclone' hoses as they are Australian made. Quite resistant to kinking, and all the fittings are very strong. 4 years later and they still look brand new.

We've had a few shockers over the past year or so, probably the first one that comes to mind is our fridge. Samsung one, not the biggest and most expensive one but certainly not a cheap nasty one either. Thankfully we got extended warranty on it and after the third time of it dropping its bundle and coming home to a stinky fridge of rotten food we demanded (and after some fighting actually got) a replacement fridge. And its not a Samsung!

Whirlpool dishwasher - junk, doesnt wash things properly no matter how we pack it. Have literally put one dish in it to test it out and no go.

Funnily enough both of these things have been bought from Harvey Norman so we dont go near the place - Good Guys all the way for us as they have been awesome to deal with every time we need something.

I had a samsung blu ray player/receiver amp 7.2 ch surround unit. It was 1 1/2 years old, and did buy it off a friend cheap who moved overseas. Lasted around a year. Being a believer in quality, went and bought a JBL 5.1 yamaha receiver and got some monster cabling. Damaging my ears never felt so good.

Im definitely a believer in quality over quantity. Its always a good yardstick.

The speakers I bought off the back off a truck in a supermarket carpark a long time ago when I was naive about such things. The brand was 'B.O.S.E.' (tailored to sound familiar to my gullible memory) and when I got home to look up reviews on the model number it didn't exist... Needless to say the damn speakers didn't even work and when I opened them up they were not much more than empty boxes. Makes one feel quite stupid :(

I've had some real dodgy Sony purchases too.

Sony 81cm CRT TV, tube blew about 6 months after purchase, cost me $60 to take it to the Sony repairer to tell me it was gonna cost about $700 to fix, I told him he can keep the POS.

Currently have the cheap?? Sony Muteki sound system 6.2 ch and the receiver won't play right side speakers. Needs to go into the bin. Speakers are fine though.

I'm usually pretty picky with electronics so they last.

There's a few things mentioned on here that I've endured as well.
DGTEC set top box.Worked when it wanted to.Which was'nt often. Binned.
LG 'phone of some description years ago.Camera clagged it.Bluetooth never worked.Discarded.
Haier dishwasher.Avoid.Spent more warranty time being repaired than it did washing dishes.Never again for that brand.
Epson printers.2 was 2 too many.
Most recent prize was my wife buying an Ozito chainsaw for $99 from Bunnings when I wanted to buy a $399 one from our local Stihl supplier.
Chainsaw worked like a dream.The first time.Never started a second time.
Finished up buying the $399 Stihl. Technically I guess it cost $498.

Just thought of another purchase reading this.

Bought an electric Ryobi whipper snipper from Bunnings and an extension cord with a safety switch on it. The whipper snipper worked twice and the third time the shaft worked itself away from the motor. The cord worked those three times and when plugging it in the wall about a week ago decided it didn't want to work.

Had them a week and the glue started lifting and the stuff started coming off. Crap product.

Found some Kustoms, same squishy stuff. AWESOME. Still going well months later.

I got a Tevion DVD player from Aldi last year. It was cheap (under $30), had 5.1 audio output and played Divx files. Worked great for a couple of months then wouldn't play any discs. Took it back to Aldi and got a replacement, no questions asked. The replacement lasted a little longer before crapping itself.
I binned it and bought a decent Blu-Ray player.

Also- My iPhone 4 is half stuffed. It doesn't ring anymore. the volume buttons on the side don't work anymore. The main button to minimise everything is veryhit and miss, terrible reception.

I still love it but man do I hate it all the same.. Need to get some time to go back to Apple and get it replaced. It still takes and makes calls, speaker works fine but it won't ring (wtf) and the screen is fine. It's never been dropped in water or smashed on the ground.

Ryobi Whipper Snipper - Absolute garbage. If you didn't flood the bloody thing trying to start it, you weren't trying hard enough. The engine was completely gutless, poor auto spool, and noisy. Best thing I ever did was replace it with a Tanaka. Bullet proof, and starts first pull of the cord, even in winter.

Sunbeam Kettle. The wife picked it, and I paid for it. I was on first name terms with the woman at David Jones who sold it to me after buying it, because it went back no less than four times, until I got one that lasted until the end of the warranty. I'll never buy anything from Sunbeam again - they've completely lost their reputation.

Bought 3 Arlec Stainless Steel Outdoor sensor lights from Bunnings.
they worked for 9 months properly and then started playing up and ran out of warranty. Cost $60 each so I go to the Arlec website and send them an email to their customer enquiries.
A week later no reply so I rang them up and they reckon they didn't get the email so I tell them the problem that the sensors don't work properly and come on when ever it rains, after they have worked once they stay on all the next day etc.
The guy says first off "you can't just have them outside".
What the use is a stainless steel outdoor light if you can't have it outdoors.

Well apparently it has to be away from the sun (because the sensor lens will fade) and it has to be under eaves away from water and weather etc.
This is a stainless steel outdoor light!!!!!!!!
Might as well bought a plastic indoor lamp for all it was worth.

Further to my earlier post, I took collection of an HTC Incredible S 'phone about a month ago.Immediately went to ebay and bought a holder for it that hangs off your trouser belt. Not 15 mins ago,it collapsed.....
