LOL at this thread really, I love the Toyota 4by's, something about Toyota reliability springs to mind here...Toyota will keep on doing what they're doing until people stop buying their cars.
And on the Celicas being Hairdressers cars, I remember the Mustang was originally called the Secretary's car, doesn't seem to be a real muscle nickname, some still use today.

When i was in market for a ute, i had a look at the Hilux.
Incredibley overpriced (new shape ones are astronomically overpriced). For what you get for 18k and under it was quickly crossed off my list. Dont know why people rave about them they are imo boring as bat ****. Guess gennerally people dont care for some things when they go to buy a car.
