While I agree that dumpers are two bit criminals, some dumps and associated councils have really got a lot to answer for in regard to fees...

I have an 8x5 tandem trailer, our local tip declared that trailers with 2 or more axles would be charged by the ton or part thereof - $95 to take half a trailer load of household refuse is pure bullshart - I shouldn't have to borrow a trailer to get the $38 charge for a 6x4, so long as it's not above waterline...

I go to the tip everyday with my current job, to pay $12.00 is quite cheap as they charge $20.00 with a limit of 2 at the one i go to, as for tip fee's, once a site has been found and used as a tip that site is pretty much useless as it cant be built on, was talking to the guy's at the tip (workers) after a cell has been capped it's left to sit for 12months to settle then they reopen it and top up, just think a tip site is in fact an area that has been poisoned and not much good for anything after that besides playing fields, it's the price we pay to live in a throw away society, if ppl learnt to recycle more it mightn't be so bad but that is just to hard for some ppl

Obviously Queenslander's have it better than us in that regard, but then again why wouldn't they? The whole state is a tip

Just kidding.

Our council run tip is stupidly expensive but we also have a privately run one around the corner from it that is better run, open longer hours and less than half the price. I got told $28 to dump some rubbish at the council one whereas the private one charged me $10. Dodgy councils.

Classic !!

If it was me in his predicament, I would have used a old Arlo Guthrie quote:

Mate, we found your name on an payslip at the bottom of a half a ton of
garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it??

Yes, sir, Officer, I cannot tell a lie, I put that payslip
under that garbage.

I know the tip fees up in Cairns a pretty cheap. Old boy takes a fair bit down, mostly costs him a bit of pocket change.

The tip out back home pays YOU to dump rubbish.

Well not quite, but the old smelly caretaker acted like he won lotto when you rocked up with a ute load.

I agree that everyone should recycle more. Some people just don't care and throw anything in any bin they see fit. Don't forget that with recycling you have to rely on people doing the right thing, however some folks put household waste into recycle bins too.

Also, with tips, there have been housing developments built on former tip sites and this was more common in the 50s and 60s though.

Finally, many councils offer 1 or 2 free household rubbish collections each year.

But he won't know its me busting him. How would he know I knew where he dumped it the second time?

Time has passed now anyway. I won't be doing it. Just glad he got his crap out of my bin.

The guy at my local tip gives Dad a discount when we go because we're there all the time getting rid of garden clippings etc.
