Lowndes was stuffed around by Walkinshaw too. When he test drove for Arrows he got magnificent times on the track only to be told he wasnt good enough and had the wrong attitude

I reckon if Skaife scored another drive he would do well if his dramas were over, Ingall is doing well at SC when it was said he was over the hill...

As much as it sucks for Mark, I hope this will open the eyes of a few people as to the true nature of Walkinshaw. He's a terrible human being and needs to be run out of the category in my opinion.

Not quite. If it was business he would have shifted the house into his wife's name and gone for voluntary administration.

By all accounts he is well thought of across the divides in his industry, as evidenced by the gathering at his retirement announcement on the 29th October.

The stupid lion is finally getting eaten from within, you'd think they would have learnt after ridding him before and watching the debacles he amassed mis-handling Arrows.
AH poor Skaife the scraficial lamb, shameshame but he is not as smart as they give him credit for. Let see where the Lions allegense's ly ?!

Just because he's a good driver doesn't make him a good businessman. Sounds like he got too risky and too big for his boots and lost it all. No sympathy.

It really is a sad way to go, It's never nice to see a champion come down like this, even if he is a bit of a tool. I hope all ends up alright for him in the end.

I remember Snozz making comment on DJ, when he came out and said he was suffering...
I remember it was a nasty little remark (ah la Skaife) about not being able to keep his house in order, being the main reason the Team was nowhere. (can not remember the exact words)

SO, the worm turns and now he's crying poor...... and it's as a result of deals done with Wilkishody.

Suffer Snozz, suffer. - Maybe then you'll learn to hold your tongue when others are hurting.

If I were Mark Skaife:

Okay, I'm in debt millions of dollars from trusting Walkinshoody and Holden/ HRT have forced me to retire prematurely. Now what should I do? My options are:

1. Continue to be apart of HRT.
2. Depart from HRT and get a ride with Supercheap alongside Ingall/ A FORD team.... SBR #4?

That'd be my thinking. He is still very young and if he were to leave HRT into another team I think he would be competitive again....drive himself out of debt. Plus it would be good for the sport to have a high name driver defecting from HRT again AKA Craig in '01.

Can Skaife come out of retirement after he has announced he is retiring?

In a perfect world where Ford Australia had a Marketing department - as opposed to a department devoted to wasting money on moronic paid advertising - this might happen and imagine if it did.

Lowndes and Skaife teamed together could get massive free publicity and strike at the heart of red camp providing Skaife somehow made it clear to the red fans what has happened to him in that camp.

An aweful story/outcome for a brilliant driver.

I really feel for him

Lets hope for Skaife...yes.

The whole reason for him retiring was "I'm not enjoying the sport anymore" which was obviously because of Walkinshaw. Put him in another competitive team and watch the results come back just like Rusty @ Supercheap.

I reckon if he did come back, you'd see both camps stand up and cheer to a certain extent. Especially after hearing news of these recent events.

Imagne Skaife...in FORD!!!! lol Its hard to fathom

While I've not been a fan of Skaife, I do feel that this is a sad scenario he finds himself in, and I would not have wished it upon him - ever.

He has been a true champion over the years, his driving ability has translated into results on the board time and time again. I don't reckon there would be too many V8 watchers that would suggest he has not been one of the best steerers out there.

I sincerely wish him well for the future, and that he finds his feet financially..

He deserves that imo.

What goes around comes around and it's Skaifes turn to feel the pain. i don't like him or ****inshaw and hope i never see him behind the wheel of a blue oval. HRT is tearing itself apart and Skaife and his arrogance are part of the reason for this. He is only marginally better liked than ****ingshaw and he has no one but himself and his greed and arrogance to blame. Bye bye Skaife i for one wont miss him and the red team he heads.

It truly sucks what Uncle Tom has done and continues to do. However in this particular case, I call Media propaganda. It can't be all that bad for Scaifey. Has anyone bothered to go look at what a 3 bedroom unit/apartment with 1km of Toorak costs per week. Anywhere from $450 up to $2000 PER WEEK. If it was so bad he'd be living in a 3 bedroom unit in the suburbs at approx 2 or 3 hundred per week.
What’s worst case for him? File for bankruptcy and walk away.

He's a high profile name, well paid jobs are not much further than the tip of his finger. TV Commentary, Post career advertising endorsements, etc, etc. He'll be back on his feet in no time at all......

in reality you are probably right but on paper it might be different. usually the reason that these dodgy big name high flyers (ie ; walkinshaw ) have differnet companys is to insulate them selves from debt and to rake in the profits.

i haven`t been a great fan of skaife (drove the wrong cars and seems a bit arogant ) but i do respect him for his driving abillity, anyone that has lasted at the top of the sport for as long as he has must be doing something right. sad to see anyone get taken down by dodgy business deals and he might be best off just walking out and starting afresh.

maybe a drive in a real car might help to clear his mind :

I'd like to feel sorry for him, but it is Skaife were talking about.
The whole V8 Supercar category is in need of a rebuild.
Cars are to technical and expensive.
V8 utes give closer racing with less expense.
Probably find a few teams will hit the wall this year as corporate funds dry up.

As much as i hate seeing any man with a family go from having alot to nothing. We all feel bad for skaifeys misfortune and sadly it happens eventually to all people who get to greedy.

When I read this in the papers all I could think of was how messy this all was when it started. I really feel for Skaife, the only upside for him is that if he does lose it all, his brand will eventually get him back to a reasonable lifestyle.

I truly hope Skaife comes out on top, he's been a great asset to the sport and has been the spark for more than a few great scraps and discussions.

Good luck Skaife, I'm sure motorsport fans are all behind you.
