Ahh, sorry must of read it wrong. But yes either way its a hard choice to make. Due to most car accidents having affects on spine, neck region. And better left up to the proffesionals. Especially if there was no danger such as fire coming from the car and he was stuck.

I was taught, It was up to you as the first respondent to make the choice. But depending on wether there current position was life threatening or not and/or trapped.

Yeh, points taken. I know there have been cases in america but i must of missed it in australia as i havent heard any. Considering committing suicide is illegal but saving someone from dying and then getting sued because they wanna die and winning?

thanks for the concern over my experiance . it was 4 years ago now . i am over it , but never will forget .
i was meerely making a point of that is what is likely to occur these days now . many many many people leave the seen of an accident . also many people drive by . just look at how many people cannot produce a witness when they have had an accident these days . because nobody is concerned about things outside of thier normality anymore .
please dont take help for granted. if you have a smash for example and the road is blocked because of your car , leave the road blocked and get witnesses before you move your car out of the way . other wise people will just drive through , leaving you without a witness . i have been caught out this way as well .
so if you can get all details of witnesses and other cars involved as soon as you can . because within seconds people are doing a runner . concocting false stories , or on thier way. . sorry to say it but that is they way it is .
once again . i think anyone who stops and helps in any way !! is one of the most selfless acts that they can do .
it's a day when you should feel proud to be alive , because your life meant something that day , and if god is up there , i'm sure that day is logged .

i just did my senior first aid yesterday, but we didnt really go through any legalities of helping people or anything. i think thats all in the hand book, i should give it a read.
but my first aid course was for work so we didnt really go through the car crash stuff.

BUT, as far as i gathered, being now trained in first aid, it is kinda my obligation to provide it if i find myself in a situation where first aid is required.

Yes hlc, it is a first aiders obligation to help if there is a need to help. Failure to do so and being identified can put yourself into alot of trouble. People don't realise this and panic and just bail out. Senior first aid doesn't realy go into Car crashes. If you have the time sit your Occupational First Aid course 4 day with St Johns, That goes into it with a bit more detail.
