What ever you do mate, for your own sake keep it nice and legal. You don't know what this person does for a living (could be a solicitor for instance) Try some of the more sensible ideas, like calling the local council/ local ranger, or if you think it will work the Police. No matter what you do try to keep it as anonymous as possible (form the neighbors and therefore their friends perspective)

Some idiot parked right across my garage in my unit block. Fortunately a mate with a 78 series cruiser was staying at the time, so a bit of chain and the thing was out on the street. I videotaped the whole thing as we were careful not to damage it, but didn't want to be hit with any claims if they found out who did it. Nothing heard.
Seriously, people are so selfish and arrogant. If they can't park it legally in front of the people they are visiting, they should at least park it considerately. Personally, despite being a big believer in karma and leaving notes for any damage- I wouldn't bother in this case. |

If there is any damage to the parked car you are responsible for the damage 100%. Best you may and I do say "may" get would be a 10% reduction for contributing Negligence.
This is from an insurance point of view. You should fess up and leave your details on the windscreen, It will definitley prompt them not to leave it there again if they think it might get hit again.

Yeah it sucks that the car is there. BUT;
* Have you considered door knocking the neighbours and asking them to move the car? * Have you considered entering from the other side of the street and just turning left into your driveway?

Whilst the person who parked so inconsiderately is an asshat, you haven't seen my street!
I live in Red Hill in Brisbane and a lot of the streets here were created before motor cars were mainstream. Therefore some of the streets are farking narrow. Like Pommyland narrow. I get a lot of f-wits in my street who park their cars right across my driveway which, due to the very small nature of our block, has virtually no access to it other than at a 90 deg angle. In other words I have to use pretty much the entire street to swing wide and get the front end of the car straight enough that I don't smack into the retaining wall or hit one of the support posts for the house (we are on a very very steep hill, funnily enough). The worst part is not so much that they park in front of the driveway but that they also park 50+ cm from the bloody gutter. I always tell my partner that I WILL drive into anyone who prevents me from exiting my own property. So far nobody has been stupid or unlucky enough to get in my way. I don't give a flying, if they want to take me to court go right ahead, don't park across my driveway inconsiderate tools. What if there is an emergency and I need to get the car out to take someone to hospital??? What if the house is on fire and I don't want to lose my car too? I can think of a zillion reasons why I might need to get my car in or out quickly. Quote:

* Yes. Its a pain though. The main road I'm coming from is that way. I shouldn't have to anyway. I have been laughing at some of the suggestions though. Great stuff.

Has anyone ever told you, your car looks like an i-pod? hehe
I hate inconsiderate people, when I park near someone's driveway I try and leave plenty of space for them to get in and out. I especially hate those people who choose to park opposite your driveway, mongrels.

call the police....
i actually had my car break down very close to my own driveway... and was in a hurry so couldn't push it back onto my driveway.. so left it there.. and went out for the day... only to get back that night.. with a msg on the answering machine from the police asking me to move my car.... call the police.. and they will contact the owner to move the car.. if they are that close.. they are blocking entry to your driveway and creating a hazard.... |

Ask the neighbours first to see if they can move and if all else fails do the ranger/towing thing and video tape them towing it. Youtube it and give the neighbours the link so the owners can watch.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as courtesy on the road anymore...
You'd think the driver of the Hyundai would have the decent courtesy to leave you enough room to get in and out of your driveway with ease.... I'd say give the council idea a go and see what happens; that is if you have no success contacting your neighbours

Yeah ask the neighbours,
In SA it's illegal to leave the car on the street for more than 24 hours. |

Paint the gutter 2 metres either side of your driveway with red paint.

We live down the street from a church. Every Sunday people park on BOTH sides of the street and as it gets pretty busy, it prevents 2 cars coming past in eother direction. So one car has to constantly stop to let someone coming in the opposite direction past. It is annoying as hell, and they should only be allowed to park on one side, b ut what they are doing is legal.
Once I was out in the yard and someone parked with the back wheel actually over our driveway. So getting out would have a PITA. I ran down chased and told them that if they didn't want my wife to run into their car they should move it... luckily they did. But we get this sort of thing every Sunday.... |

THE CAR MOVED!!!
I must say, a bit of shock. Didn't even have to ask them to move it.
