Pest control, a simple F off should have done the job quite well

I had the perfect opportunity, upon hearing the distinct sound of a GM Streamliner, to run over the road and take some pictures as it chuffed by.

Even better as it came into view, the train was a double header with 2 1950's Streamliners pulling it. Excitedly, I managed to get three pictures only to discover the camera's memory ran out of space on 2 and the first picture had the first diesel behind a large tree !! dumar*e.

I think the next town heard my disappointment.

Yeah, it was a last-minute thing and I had to fast as well, so it was a double whammy. I also picked the wrong collection place as well.

I, too, had to do a blood test yesterday. Knowing that Monday mornings are normally terrible coz all the oldies get in there after the weekend and early coz they hate fasting, I was dreading the wait. I play golf on Mondays and didn't want to play too late in the day so took the punt. I got in at around 8:40 and I was the only person in the waiting room! Both attendants were busy, so I did have to wait about 5 minutes, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Pity the golf wasn't as good. But I'd rather be playing a crap round of golf on a cracker weather day than be playing a good round in bad weather

Back when i was 17 in year 12 at school, every saturday i watched every episode of ready steady cook on a 12 inch tv with a metal cage around. Did that for 12 months. My brother was on a suspended sentence for driving offences. I was his youber to do the weekly check in, before youber was a thing. Didnt get paid either.

Well, most recently it was Channel 7's morning talk show. You know the sort, pasty presenters that can't make it in primetime, useless celebrity trivia masquerading as "news", and the infomercial's every 15 minutes selling pointless crap no one would ever need.

Who the hell actually sits down and watches those programs! I would rather watch football............and I hate football.

A car I permanently loan out is back with shifting issues, stemming from a hydraulic shift fluid leak. It’s not only eaten two days of the last ten in diagnosis and partial repair, but taken a solid bite from the car hobby expenditure I allow myself. If I couldn’t DIY reasonably, think I’d be spitting the dummy.

Last day of leave. I can't say I feel much relaxed and dumb of me to take the week off during school holidays.

Every day some sort of noise waking me up anyway. From road work diversions to kids being kids to everyone doing some form of work around the house

1 week is not good for the body, it takes 1 week to start winding down, then your 2nd week is the rest time and the ankle biters are back at school.

Yeah for most of the time I take a big break at Xmas which has much the same problems but even that has been getting shorter due to work so trying to take extra days here and there and a week now before it got too cold.

At some point I just need to tell them to stick it up their **** and take two weeks when I want to do so.

I find that I spend the first week trying to unwind, then spend the second week fretting about going back.

I have 390 hours of leave and 110 hours of sick leave owing to me, plus two lots of long service.

I have been planning to take long service when my new car arrives, one of the reasons why I'm so agitated about the constant stream of delays with the new Mustang...................I'm gagging for some extended time off. A new car is my holy grail, so I want to take the time to enjoy the delivery, dialing the paint in and getting it all protected, then take some road trips to see family in Merimbula and Coffs Harbor. I just want to do all this without a time frame attached to it................enjoy life for a change.

Take a lot of your entitlements sooner rather than later.Wouldn’t be the first time a supposedly good stable business has gone down taking all the employee leave and holiday pay with the. Some employees have also found out (too late) that super wasn’t being paid either

In fact business should be encouraging you to take your entitlements rather than accrue big balances as it is a liability on their books.

So if they block leave for seemingly no good reason I'd be worried.

On a few occasions at my old mob i got given the choice of leave or payout of x% of my leave. My boss was pretty straight up and down with me. It was along the lines of 'if' i quit the company didnt have enough to pay me out. When i did quit they had enough to pay me out so that wasnt bad.

This sort of links back to posts made on the previous page. Small family business, small staff numbers. If someone is on holidays, then they have to work harder, or things simply don't get done. So, it's in their best interest to not incentivize leave. I always feel guilty asking for leave, I can see the boss's cogs turning when I do. And it's always a bad time to ask, as in it's school holidays, Christmas rush, Spring rush, winter bare root season, potting season................................... doesn't matter when I ask for it, its inconvenient.

And after 41 years in business, I highly doubt they have ever had to pay long service leave to an employee.

They legally cannot pay only x% of your leave, they are obligated to pay the lot. This is why they don't want to accrue it and it is in their interest not to let it get that way. Small business especially. Anyone not dodgy anyway.

But you can't get blood from a stone as they say.

Why should you feel bad about taking leave. If the business s profitable, then they can afford to employ extra staff or even a casual or 2 to keep the wheels turning when staff ore on leave or sick. The more you give, the more they reckon they can take

All good in theory not so much in reality. If you have SME knowledge they make it difficult everywhere you go.

No, what it was was take say 3 weeks off or get the 3 weeks payed out. Option 3 was say no to both. All up to me, nothing dodgey from the employer.
