Considering I have more Victa's in my care than an actual dealer would carry in stock, I decided I wanted a sign to hang on my garage wall. This is how my order showed up........................

I guess it looks more shabby chic now?

The way it was creased was very deliberate, like it was sent like that, or someone in Australia Post though such an action was appropriate despite the package wrapped with "FRAGILE" tape.

The vendor is making me a new one, but just wish people (Aust Post) would be honest when they screw up. I'm probably too naive for my own good.

Pulled up, hazard lights on, kids get off, sticker licker pops out of nowhere and books us both. We explain the situation, not interested.
Rang our office, nowhere else to stop so have to do it again at pickup time, old mate again appears from nowhere and pings us again.
$160 per ticket x4 for being there a total of 5 minutes.

What ****es me off is Councils allow these types of businesses that cater to large groups in their entertainment hubs and then fail to provide safe access for groups of that size to be dropped off and picked up.

The irony is, that earlier in the day I was doing rail replacement shuttles due to industrial strikes and were asked to stop for passengers at bus stops for the same Government thats just booked me for....stopping at a bus stop.
For starters, state government and local council are two different entities, just think you had an overzealous parking inspector on the day, the bus company can appeal the tickets if they wish to.
As an employee I would not bother about the tickets unless there were other alternatives to your parking needs.

Cheers

Not sure where I mentioned State government but anyway, the bus sstops approved for me to stop at would be the same as the one I was booked at so they all fall under the same governance yet it was ok at 1 but not another and thats hypocricy.

They all fall under the Australian Road Rules Act s183(1) which doesn't provide exceptions for being hired by private rail companies.
They're turning a blind eye to us using those stops because it suits their agenda of providing the least inconvenience to constituents during an industrial relations disruption.

lol, depends on with your attitude to the job and customer, I had a parcel recently posted to me which stated it can be dropped off without signature, my wife watched the postie on security cam stop at letterbox, walked over to corner of my garden near door and placed discreetly, which I thought fair enough since it was too big for the letterbox, but was astounded me was the fact he made no attempt to ring doorbell or knock on door.
Previous posties have always done this procedure, why the change?

It may cost a couple of dollars extra but get the vendor to wrap 2 pieces of 6mm MDF around it.

mdf is too heavy and useless, try chipboard.. at least if it gets wet it won't fall to pieces straight away.

Fairly sure that I’ve been called heavy and useless, but I’ve not been bent over double in a mailbox.

As to what I hate… Stump grinder vs water supply :
Off to the scrap three-quarter copper stash. Looking good…

My 34 year old daily driver, 346K on the original bore, seems like it needs a new fuel pump. I paid $400 for this car in 2008 and think I got ripped off, it should have lasted better.

It seems I have spent the last four days picking up the slack or incompetence of others.

Mistakes made by laziness, jobs having to be done twice because the first person didn't do it properly, jobs done half ars.d to save time, or things that were asked to be done but were left for other less important jobs.

As such, the boss has paid for things to be done twice, or in other words, half productivity. But its ok, "someone else will fix it"................. me.

When work is dead for ages and then somehow everyone smashes you at the same time before you go on leave. Dunno how they do it

There is a problem that came up last minute. Lets see if anyone actually tries to fix it or leave it to me. I'm betting the latter but at least trying would be an improvement

Nah, call the prior private seller and demand a refund.

Prolly 15 years ago i knew a girl who bought a 1984 toyota camry private sale for $500 with 10 months rego on it and was infuriated that tha ac didnt work. To be fair, in my view your paying just for the rego in that case. Well, she got really upset after she called the seller being all angry and the seller said sorry sunshine.... Anything sub $1000 should have atleast 12 months rego, everything work and be in pristine condition. What is the world coming to?

I was once told to do the best you can at work, because when you go on holiday they see how much they either need or don't need you.

Dude, one thing my dad taught me was employers see all. And also dont come across as a complainer, let your work ethic shine. Let the ones fall on their own sword so to speak.
At my last mob. There were a few i didnt have any time for. So when it came for them running jobs, they couldn't orginise beers in a pub. I'd get told to put my jobs on hold, which i hated as I'd have to call customers to say sorry i wont be there at the agreed time and date, just to get the inept peoples jobs back on track for a day. Typically what would happen would be i get on site with my tools and get the rundown then get into it, then mid morning or mid afternoon the boss would rock up and he and I would go for a coffee and he askes actually how is the job going. I would never talk crap on the useless bloke running the job, but just point out how far off the job is. But getting back to site, man would i cop crap from the bloke running the backwards site as i got taken out for coffee. Needless to say, this only happened on sites where the bloke running the site didnt last long because they did their own undoings. I will name only 1 name. Uncle tony, tony to tradesman, uncle to apprenti. We knew him as 4 stroke after a few months. Only as he had had 3 strokes before starting at the company but had his 4th on site. So 4 stroke.

Oh trust me, I know how that works, evidenced by the mountain of work that DIDN"T get done while I was away.

Thing is, when its a family business, certain employees get a free pass, can't upset the apple cart, so the non-family employees are the ones who get the brunt of the boss's frustrations. "Do as we say, not as we do..........."

I know what you mean, I used to bite my tongue a lot because I had a mortgage, but once that was gone, no more taking $#!t from anyone, its funny how they go from "you can be replaced" to you are a valued employee , the boss I have now knows that I will not stand for any Bull dust and we get on fine.

I gave up kissing *** many, many years ago. I'm a very literal type of person, if I'm corrected or pulled up on something, then I go out of my way to make sure that never happens again. As such, I have a huge problem when the same rules don't apply to family employees, because I know who ends up having to fix the problem, or I end up taking the blame for it.

I've snapped back several times over the years for that sort of hypocritical behavior, but then guess who ends up being labelled the nazi? Too many chiefs and not enough Indians, and too many standards, so its hard to please everyone.

If that sounds like I would be murder to work with, well you'd be correct. I know what I am, I have high standards and don't suffer fools gladly. Do me wrong and you will know about it. But guess who gets the work done.
