Reading about Bud Light sales falling. Get woke, go broke. And this is not lip service. For three decades I shaved using Gillette products. For the last four years I have been shaving using a Schick razor.

…One of my car batteries failed on the tester today, DIN55H now at only 64% of nominal 530 CCA. Starts and runs the car fine, but you wouldn’t rely on it after a couple of days not using.
I’m feeling good because it’s lasted almost exactly six years. It’s some obscure Turkish brand that I got from an iffy place which since closed down. At the time of purchase I thought the sellers were having a lend of me on price ($270 IIRC) but it’s proven decent value over time. |

The very, very old nylon bushes on my T bar in the XC disintegrated last week.
Got some new ones from Rare Spares, fit perfectly, no more sloppy shifter. I hate a sloppy shifter, got to be firm and move smoothly on the box.

Guy moved in around the corner from me about 12 months ago. By absolute chance, we worked out that he worked at Ford with my cousin.
He moved to town working for an international company that was working on converting rubbish trucks to run on hydrogen. These trucks would be used in a project that would convert waste to hydrogen. He was told last week that funding for the project had been exhausted and that his services would no longer be required. The same day, he was told by the real estate agent that the house he is renting will be going on the market for sale. A member in here is a supervisor at a local veggie farm. Contacted to see if he needed anyone. Guy around the corner grew up on a farm and has experience driving tractors, so thought it might be a win:win. Guy around the corner went out there today and now has three days per week of work, which will at least cover his rent. Whilst he didn't exactly thank me, it feels good knowing that I've helped him out a little.

I probably didn't express that as well as I could have. We talked about the fact that he had got some employment and how it had all gone down. Whilst he never actually said thank you or expressed his thanks for me putting him on to this lead, I could tell, from the conversation, that he was thankful.
And whilst he didn't actually say thanks, it would have been easy to do. But I didn't need the 'thanks' for me to feel good about doing a good deed. At the end of the day, all I did was send a text. The guy who gave him the job was the one who is doing most of the effort.

Finished mowing my front and back lawns this evening, finally got them in sync after almost four months. I’m far from a lawn obsessive, but enjoy the spurring on from efforts of others here; Rallye Sport, danzvtil, AU-Hog, FTE217, .:4:. and of course Mr DFB all spring to mind. It’s a genuine highlight to learn and have fun at the same time.

Had a nice drive up Macquarie Pass on Friday afternoon, made up for the prior nose-to-tail traffic downhill. Povo Ute acquitted itself quite reasonably.

A great day at the Wangaratta truck, car, bike and fly in.
Watching the Mustang perform and hearing the radial engines were brilliant.

Do you know which mustang it was, RW?
An ex-Raaf pilot my dad flew back seat with when going away with the Roulettes (back in the days when they flew Macchis) owns a Mustang (and a Sabre and a C47). There's nothing like the sound of a wound up Merlin, IMHO!
