Commiserations. Having once killed a phone attempting a DIY repair with heat gun, I can relate.

I’ve not had a problem thread for about eighteen years. To encounter three on the same motor fitted by a well-known Sydney wrecker, suggests I might be the “discoverer” - not the creator.
These, sadly aren’t sold in M10x1 for secondary spark plugs: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/361302625145 So I’ve resorted to this: Worst case I have to get the mobile thread guy onto it. |

The only main issue i can see as to why that may not work is, from experience, it doesnt appear that you have stretched the electrical tape on application.
Other then that, the rig looks great. |

I lack a calibrated wrist when it comes to things like taping and cable pulling. It was stretched, but probably could have gone harder.
Seems to have done the job, cleaned up the threads. A mate did a similar repair but crimped copper tube onto the end using the battery cable eye crimp tool. |

On the highway, left lane, this morning. Car parked in the emergency lane. Puts his blinker on and pulls out in front of me. If I had been in a truck I think he might have had a problem.
Little traffic on the road. He only needed to wait a moment or two but he must have thought it was OK to do what he did; or perhaps he didn't even look. He might or might not have got his licence overseas. Not sure if that's relevant but it might be. (Next time I see that situation I had better make sure I am in the outside lane.) |

So sick of dealing with Suppliers and Logistics Contractors, who misrepresent their abilities, and then get all butthurt when I actually try to rely on what they have advertised.
Trying to ship something. Logistics provider boasts that they have "Agents" in specific locations, that are are to send, receive, and store. So plan is to have supplier deliver to their "Agent", and ship from there. So ask for quote. Supplier quotes sending a truck on a round-trip to collect. Not normally what I would expect with a resident Agent, but ok. Then asks me for collection address. When I explain that no, you say you have an Agent, Supplier will deliver to them, they suggest "meeting at the Servo." So Supplier agrees to deliver to their agent in town, so that Carrier can collect. Carrier, even though they have quoted me on round-trip collection, then refuses to collect, and says "meeting at the Servo" is the only option. |

So sick of "middle-men" that want to be paid huge sums to do nothing.
The world is full of such "middle-men" and traditionally they provide a valuable service, for which they get paid. But increasingly I find they want all the work done for them, and yet still expect to extract exorbitant fees. Because of all the ****ery with Covid, the major airlines will now only accept specialised freight from specialist providers. That alone has seen basic prices triple or even quadruple. Bad enough, but these co-called specialists are worse than useless. Actually create more work. They provide no added value whatsoever. The only difference is that instead of delivering direct to Airline's receival, we have to delivery to their airport depot for double-handling. AND instead of just booking direct with the airline, every damn booking is now a drawn-out affair, going back and forwards to confirm flights and prices, with them as the useless intermediary. |

Lost a set of very important keys today. Well, I lost them a while ago but they were needed today! Said keys are for my storage shed where among other assorted crap one tends to accumulate, it's where I store a car.
Spent all day stressed about it, spent all night looking for them. Found them down the back of a cabinet. Ruined my day, ruined my evening. New policy from this moment forward, they will ALWAYS returned to my key safe!

Glad you found them. Did you put them on top of the cabinet when tired or busy, thinking it was an obvious place and you’d remember it later?
Tiles; they’re handy for this stuff. Not foolproof but a good headstart. |

Missing keys.
My parents went overseas and left their house keys with us. They were gone for several weeks but there was no need to use the keys, just grab mail, water some plants. I put the keys in a safe spot, behind some photos on a shelf, out of view and away from day to day business. The evening they returned, they were tired and like you do, you just want to get yourself home, fed and to bed. The keys are not there. I have no idea where to look, because there was only one place to look..... ****. Parents think we are having a lend. About an hour later, the missus finds the keys in daughters room (she was only about 5yo) mixed in with the Barbies and dollhouse. I have no idea how she found them or why she took them but that was not a nice feeling and parents were not pleased. They've never asked again and that was nearly 20 years ago. Im OK with that |

Went to my local shop this morning. Came back to the car and the puddle underneath was larger and greener then the normal ac condensate. Did a quick check to see if there was anything left in the header tank, it was low but good enough to get the car home the 2km without getting remotely warm. Cracked radiator end tank. So tomorrows job is to find a mobile mechanic who can swap it out on the day. Surely a bf radiator is an on the shelf item.

I’ve got a bunch of the outdated version with replaceable batteries. The only serviceable one now is Tile Pro. The 2020 Tile Mate (my pick) is being run out, some OfficeWonks still have them on the shelf at $65/4. I buy spare batteries at Jaycar.
Hint: Tile are big on self-promoting emails, create a separate email account or folder to register. |

Bunning's Click and Collect service.
What a absolute waste of time this supposedly time saving service is. I ordered some plastic storage containers and some safety glasses last night. I went in to pick them up this afternoon, stood at the Click and Collect desk for 5 minutes while old mate in front was trying to get a refund on a crappy wipper snipper, only to be told that they couldn't find my order. I was then sent to the trade desk and waited while the two staff members finished their chit chat. Again, the young lass couldn't find the safety glasses. While she called to find them where they were, I notice one of the storage container lids was broken......I mean why this was not noticed when they were readied is baffling. At this stage, I was pretty agitated and I'm ashamed to say I got rather stroppy with the young girl. It wasn't her fault and I apologized as I left, but the system they have in place is hopeless. Including the time for another lid was found, I could have gone in, got what I wanted, paid for the items and left the premises in LESS time. TIP OF THE DAY - Don't bother with Bunning's Click and Collect, just another reason why I hate the place!

Maybe a bit longer, if you take the opportunity to flush and rinse the system.
But with the expansion tank cap cracked, modest driving should be possible - at least to fetch a new radiator, coolant and flushing agent. |

Ive had my express van for 2 and a half years, and found it doesnt like hot weather, upgraded the radiator, runs ok, but not idling with AC over 35c, blamed the olden days clutch fan set up. Had my mobile mechanic out for new brakes, mentioned the hot and bothered temp, has one look, "youre missing your condenser fan! theres the mounting points, theres the plug!" holy crap, how did i miss that?! Got him quoting up a clutch fan delete, apparently thermo fans will release another couple of KW out of the 2.4l monster.

Amen to that!
Quote:
The lack of customer service is pathetic, they almost always force the customer to buy stuff they don't really want, they drive down the cost and therefore quality of nearly everything they sell. They also force suppliers into contracts that insist on a certain price point and store specific versions so as to not offer a direct comparison and therefore negate their "beat it by 10%" claim. In terms of my specialty, to meet the price points on plants, the growers need to force feed stock so it grows quicker and meets a saleable size quicker. Problem with that strategy is that while the above ground material looks mature, the root system has not followed suit. This means that when a customer takes a plant home to put in their garden, the likely hood of it surviving the transplant is considerably less. They also force growers into priority supplying, meaning anyone who wants to try and sell something similar much, much harder. All of these tactics have made it very hard for anyone else to compete. Since Bunnings arrived in my area, 5 other retail nurseries have closed down for good. I'm sure that applies to many other industries. The company I work for has diversified into other related services and have always sold our selves as a place to get a high level products sold with a high level of service and knowledge. So while Bunnings are good to have, their presence and tactics have hurt a lot of people. The argument always was, well it gave older tradesman a place to get off the tools and offer knowledge to customers. Well, from what I have seen over the years, where are these people? And even when you do find someone to help you, they are so old and jaded that they make you feel like an inconvenience. I could go on and on but I think I will leave it there.

Most of the old trade guys who are left (stuck) there will usually steer you towards Gasweld, Total Tools or real tool independent sellers. Most know the stuff is made to a DIY price. Not many trade guys I know would be seen dead in there. Just another junk shop IMO.

As I said, some things I'm happy to buy at Bunnings and I appreciate the convivence of just running in and grabbing what I need, 7 days a week. But all of the big item tools I have bought over the last 10 years, they have not been at Bunnings.
