I very nearly took a punt on a licence as an investment way back when they were 300 to 400k. What put me off was Vic gov introducing the pink taxi licenses out of no where with little to no consultation or compensation. That was a huge warning sign. Dodged a big bullet.

I keep a close eye on prices. I’ve noticed that the market is flooded with regular km, regular condition enthusiast cars. The low km, pristine, collector examples are still fetching good money.
Yesterday I saw an FG 5th anniversary GT with 150km on it, presented well and was $35,000. A manual 302 BF GT with 80,000km for $30,0000 quick sale. I’ve noticed a trend of well priced cars to sell quickly. They do sell quickly but it shows people are needing cash quickly and want a no fuss sale. There is AU to FG enthusiast cars that have high prices and been sitting for over 12 months on carsales.

Ridesharing wouldn't have become so popular unless taxis weren't a complete joke, they dug their own grave and now they get to lie in it. |

Sounds like you’re probably some bloke who missed a few chances in life and hated those that saw success from said missed opportunities, which makes you happy when people fail. Good on you, mate. You’ve still got no idea. “Speculative” says it all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Oh you added another paragraph to back yourself up a little more. Tell us more about what you knew about taxis (nothing).

Nothing. But the old boy bought a few in the mid 80s and cashed out before Uber as a total winner. Unlike yourself.

That’s why it’s called “digital disruption”, it’s disruptive. If we align the definition with what you are saying, nothing is blue chip - everything has the ability to have its value wiped. Ie, maybe there’s a “better” gold. No point arguing with an idiot as they say. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Except they didn't get compensation for what happened to them, the taxi licence holders should be thankful that they got some form of compensation. The market moved on - it's not 'disruption' it's the market moved on to new offerings as they became available, the same as Foxtel/AUSTAR prior to the NBN coming along allowing access to things like streaming services. Throw out as many insults as you want, I can tell I've struck a nerve - you've got better chance trying to convince a brick wall before you get me to change my views. |

And I think we've gone far enough off topic so we'll stop there please.

The taxi industry was saddled with horrendous govt regulation & fees for years & treated like a cash cow, then dropped like a hot potato when Uber came to town. Dr Terry Last edited by Dr Terry; 13-06-2023 at 01:28 PM. |

Manheim in Melbourne have re-started in-person auctions after nearly 3 1/2 years.
I went along on Wendesday, was interesting. Anything Toyota is still getting silly money. However, some of the Thailand specials seem to have dropped in price, Colorados & Tritons were going for around $15K up, Territorys are still getting stong money, what looked like an ex-Ambo MICA Territory (2015), with some side damage couldn't get a start at $15K. They had a few outbacks, most were going for around the 20K mark, got myself a 2018 Outback Premium, with 190ks, but ex-govenment with books for just under $15K on referral. A couple of AU3 wagons that were donations, couldn't get bids, even at $300! Not a huge amount of cheaper cars yet, will be interesting to see what happens in the next few months. Can we get back on topic now instead of market speculation fishing expeditions.

Have noticed the 2nd handy early Jag XE asks are now starting with a '2' on the lower end: some in mid to lower '2's, as well. Prior to covid the first ones had just dropped under 30K, then the start point went up to high 30s, now depreciation curve is resuming as programmed.

tickford220 . The diff bushes no longer became a problem for me, when I replaced them with aftermarket bushes that fit the spec. Ford wanted a softer ride with the power. It never was going to work in the long run. Changed under warranty and then replaced with proper bushes... those bushes are now hitting 150000 km no knocks since the last change.
Unmodified FG II manual turbo with 220000km for reference .....ROCK SOLID platform. (The NA versions were taxis for a reason). The tyres, however, are on the driver, in my experience 8D Last edited by dmat2391; 21-06-2023 at 06:27 PM. |

Not sure this would be considered "good value", but it sure is tempting.........
https://www.lorbek.com.au/stock/deta...-prestige-cars The best ever inline 6, red leather interior, the sound, the styling.............if this example was blue or red, I would consider jumping on this while I wait for the S650 Mustang to arrive. Buy it, enjoy for 12 months and then trade it on the S650.
