Agreed, and that's why she bought it in the end, but a new car with 7yr unlimited km warranty as the MG3 offers for similar money will suck a few in as the Hyundai Sprint did 20yrs ago.

With two rate cuts by the RBA staring to slow the rate of house price falls, it will be interesting to see in the coming months whether Australian new car sales figures begin to improve.

Syndrome look particularly to the Fed and what it does with US rates, as it is the big one in terms of world economy. Draghi at the ECB has signaled they will stimulate more (lower rates if required). What a crazy world where 1/3 of EU bonds are yielding negative (you pay them the interest for holding the bond = consumes capital!)

The financial markets have been in bizarro world since 2008. It will not end well. But I don't see that have a direct connection to car sales in Australia.

1. Tesla being Tesla

2. Ford one time charges to turn around Europe, mostly cuttng staff and vehicles / production that doesn't work.

3. J/LR is only impressive in an up market, they don't make enough profit to cover funding for their product cycles

4. Without Carlos Gosn, Nissan are leaderless chooks.

Six months is a long time in the car industry but while buyers still have
good paying jobs and easy financing, the industry and dealers will be OK.

While some contribution for plant shutdown, there was a global drop of sales and revenue.
J/LR struggles in less than buoyant times, always has done but now Ford is not there to carry them.
