Seeing it is a write off, whoever buys it may run into problems. So could be cheaper than what you blokes would pay.

It probably bent something major. Otherwise it would be an insurance job. If insurance wouldnt cover it, the owner would make more parting it out... second hand parts for a new model are hard to come by

We it will still go for 12k more than an ecoboost because the engine is the only difference between the 2
What a waste of bandwidth this thread is.

I can only imagine it must have been new stock. The damage is too major to be fixed and sold as new, so insurance pays out (wholesale value?) and then auctions to recoup.
Could do with some better photos. |

There's at least $20k there even if you can get the parts I would have thought. But why would you bother? And how many panel shops in Perth would know how to repair a 2016 Mustang? And at the end of the day you still have a write-off on your hands that will always be a cloud over the car and its future value. Unless it's really cheap (low 30's) it's a waste of time.

Where is it? If it's not NSW, probably not a stat write off. Parts are a dime a dozen in the states, it can be fixed..

Its in WA and it is a repairable write off i doubt the damage is that extensive chassis wise it clearly cant be sold as new car now can it
if i was a betting man i would say its happened in holding yard some where I alright to buy keep personally but I doubt it will go for cheap

If it were an insurance job, then finding cheap old nasty parts would be an issue. But if somebody wants to keep it, then buying new parts from the states would be easy as.
Quote:
If its simply a matter of parts and panels, then its an easy job. Quote:
Unfortunately what tends to happen (at least in WA) with dealer stock that is damaged, is that it is often not "written off" but is simply sold by the dealer at auction, with the dealer receiving compensation for economic loss. Either that or the stock remains the property of the manufacturer and they self insure. Then some dodgy buys it at auction, fixes it, and a dealer somewhere (or even the same dealer) will sell it claiming its an "executive demo." |

But the other thing to consider, is the timing. How long is the waiting list for a new one?
IF you could get the parts, this could be back on the road in a couple of weeks (after the parts arrive.) |

I'd say it was crashed on a test drive, and at a loss the dealer made sure it is written off as it can't be sold as "new". Too much money to lose in their book, even if it is repaired and resold as used. I wouldn't care less though the damage does not look extensive. I have seen much worse cars fixed up.
