Default ebay scammer warning - "thescarpman39"

Hi guys.

There is a guy on ebay that is selling numerous late model ford parts.

His user name is: thescrapman39
His name is: Shannan Warwick

Please beware of this seller, who took my money via direct bank transfer, and now blatantly refuses to send me the item. Lucky for me it was just $30 but please avoid this user (and in particular his requests for direct bank transfer).

eBay has said that they will investigate, but have mentioned there is not much they can do when it comes to direct transfers....

Jake.

Looks like he is "no longer a registered user." His prior feedback as both seller and buyer is 100%, with good seller ratings. Has there been any communication with him since you won the item?

I bought some brake calipers off him the other day and he dropped them off. No dramas at all. I have bought a few things off hime with no issues.
He did say he is going through some issues at home but it sucks you got burnt.

And in other news I can recommend CarsRus on Ebay (Sunshine Coast based). Have good value aftermarket parts, got a new electric motor/cables/etc. from them and was delivered very quickly. Good prices to be had too.

Would be nice to have a "sticky" with positive experiences with Ford part suppliers on Ebay. Or ones to avoid.

Looks like he's been banned from eBay which is good.

I spoke to the bloke twice on the phone plus sent heaps of texts and a few emails, and he just kept brushing me off, and ignoring me...

Go to your bank and you can get them to start the process to get the money back. It may not be successful, but it's worth a shot.
We tried this with a dodgy granite and marble benchtop manufacturer that took over $4000 of our money and gave us nothing. Unfortunately, they went in to liquidation so we haven't seen anything back and the bank couldn't do anything for us.
So, give your bank a shot to try and recover the funds for you.

They say this to try and push you to use their Paypal service.

I would rather pay by Paypal, at least you have some kind of protection. About 18 months ago I bought an instrument cluster for my Territory from some dude on Ebay, paid the money, waiting, waiting, waiting for my item. Wouldn't answer texts, wouldn't reply to emails, finally went into dispute over it after a month & Paypal got me a refund after about another 3 weeks.

To the OP, do you kn ow if he had a heap of stuff for sale all the the same time when you bought? Wonder how many others are out of pocket?

Bank prob won't step in over $30. They may just give it to you as a sign of good will.

As you said.. better 30 then 300 or 3000...

Not good to hear JakeF6. I bought an item from the same seller in late March at a very good price, paid by paypal, no problems at all.

However, even 100% feedback means nothing on eBay. I bought a set of 19" wheels from another seller which were described as excellent condition, he had 100% feedback from 400+ sales etc. Turned out one of them had a hairline crack at the base of the spoke (only realised it after they were mounted up and the tyre was losing 4psi a day) which can't be legally or safely repaired - especially not with araldite that had apparently been placed over the crack to cover it up! The wheel style was discontinued about 3 years ago so I couldn't get hold of a replacement rim anywhere in Oz; result was I'm left with only 3 rims an expensive lesson in caveat emptor (buyer beware) factoring in the cost of the rims, transport and tyre fitting then stripping. Of course the seller denied knowledge of the problem, and via a cash payment eBay wouldn't do anything about it...

Had the same problem, however I did not pay as it was Cash on Delivery, 100% Feedback, pictures weren't close to show any wear and tare, so I called and texted to get the full status on these wheels, turns out the chrome was bubbling and all 4 wheels had gutter rash right the way around but the pictures didn't show it, sucks because I only had one day to bid and he lived 2 hours away, and when we got there he even told me that the tyres were old(ad said they were new and near 90%), and that all the wheels were unbalanced...

Also I was unable to find "CarsRus" the only one I found is "No longer registered"

Yep, he had 30+ items for sale, that's why I posted on here to warn others.
Some items listed were over $1000.

So, 30+ items at a total of $ ??,???.?? at a wild guesstimate... why is this NOT a case for the police......

'Speed' a few kays over on an empty road, don't display your P plates, park in the wrong spot and they are all over you in an instant.....

Get burnt like this and it's a 'civil' matter....

If you do an eBay transaction best advise pay by PayPal.

If it all falls through, you can open a dispute and most of the time you will get the money back, as PayPal favours the buyer.

Mine was via paypal, ended up getting my money back, I don't think Rodney appreciated being called at home.
I believe Shannan handles the ebay side of their business too.
