http://horsepowerkings.com/report-20...rburgring-lap/
The 2016 Shelby GT350R has clocked a blistering-fast 7:32.19 at the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife. That’s nearly 5 seconds faster than the Camaro Z/28’s well-groomed 7:37.40 time, and even a second faster than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. According to the fresh report, the GT350R clocked this time back in September of 2014, and was “easily repeatable”. The (trusted) source also claims that the ‘base’ GT350 is “within a few seconds” of the ‘R’ package, but no specific lap times were given for the base model.

That's impressive! Not just "impressive for a mustang", but just in general that's impressive. Bravo Ford!

Nice lap time, hopefully there will be a in car video available on youtube soon. Cant wait to hear it.
I'm guessing Chevrolet would like to try and beat their 7:37.40 lap time seeing it was spoiled with rain about 6 minutes in.

We don't know the conditions for Ford's lap either though. For such a long lap, I'm sure every lap ever recorded there could have been better somehow.

Wonder if the GT350s time was on an empty track, because the Z28 was...

It's so cool having such a stout track car straight from the factory. There are some very impressive and exotic cars on that list that lap slower than the GT350R.

i reckon we might see it here or something similar.
i can't see ford and holden dropping the v8's from there range in the future. Not when chrysler/dodge have the srt range in australia's sight. (well holden will drop it, they'll go a twin turbo v6 opel or something) |

Well they'll have to beat the base GT 350first. They say the 350 is only a few secs slower then the 350R which means even it would match the chevy. And that's without the rather comprehensive upgrades that the 350R uses. When you look at the list of track focused go fast bits on the 350R....it kinda makes the base 350 look very bare bones! IMPRESSIVE
