Default Best Leather Conditioner ?

I use Meguires leather cleaner / conditioner one step once every 6 months or so which seems to do a pretty good job,

Mothers has a two step system, separate cleaner and conditioner which is also good, probably better for really dry leather.

Just wondering what others use to keep their leather soft and supple and in pristine condition ?

Wolfgang - Its a two part system with a citrus based cleaner and separate conditioner. I've used it for 6 years on the folks Cashmere leather and my own car. Awesome stuff.

Guys, if possible, can you provide a link to the product, that would be really appreciated. I'm interested in trying other brands as although the Meguires does a good job I don't feel it really does a "deep" conditioning, if that's the right word for it.

Also curious how often other people do there cleaning / conditioning routine ?

A mate of mine is a good panelbeater and he was saying the other day he is frequently amazed at how often high end cars come into the workshop and the leather appears to have never seen any kind of treatment at all

I predominantly use Zaino car care gear, and bought this set from waxit some time ago. I have only used it once and that was on near new leather (hence, no real cleaning required), so can't really comment on how good or bad it is as a package, but the conditioner seemed to do a pretty good job on the ST.

The best part is the conditioner smells exactly like new leather so it tends to make the car smell like brand new again.

^^ Wow, thanks - 4-6 times a year, looks good and looks like I need to improve my game as obviously twice a year doesn't cut the mustard. I agree about the lanolin content leaving a greasy feeling that's why I went off the Mothers conditioner as it has lots of lanolin and feels greasy and as much as us Kiwi's like our sheep we're not so keen to be soaking in their by-products every time we sit in our cars

Thanks everyone for your info.

I'm mainly looking for something that gives a really deep conditioning as our Merc is 7 years old and they use quite thick leather. Its become clear to me that I havn't conditoned it enough, hasn't cracked or anywhere near it but I feel it needs some serious love now.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the Leatherique rejuvinating Oil ?
Seems like a lot of love for it with classic cars on other forums
http://www.permanentpaintedcoatings.co.nz/leatherique/

Also seems like a fair bit of love for the Zaino Z10 but can't find anyone to supply that in N.Z.
Connelly Hide food is another that seems to have quite a following.

Crickey, there's so many different products out there its really quite confusing.
One thing that's becoem crystal clear today, at least 4 times a year is the minimum recommended frequency for conditioning, many brands recommend six times a year, that's a bit of an eye opener in itself.

Zaino is quite expensive, but a very good product, and one of the only cleaners that if used regularly will keep the new car smell.

The one I use is called Gliptone Leather Cleaner and Conditioner, its about $30 for the two bottles on average, and basically has the same smell as the zaino for a 3rd of the price, and it works so well. Especially if used from the beginning of the life of the car.

I used it from brand new in my Megane 250, and after 3 years and 30,000 km the leather was still dull, soft and smelled brand new, as I would clean and condition the leather maybe 3 times a year. People were constantly shocked when I told them the age of the car, It looked and smelled absolutely brand new right until the end.

My mate has also got a Megane 250 of a similar age and km, but it has never been conditioned or cleaned, and it shows - the leather is shiny and hard and wavy/*** imprinted in high traffic areas - all very normal wear and tear, but if you use the Gliptone or Zaino regularly, you will keep this 100% at bay.

I love the product and back it 110% I'd look no further, simply due to the fact that it smells like leather/new car smell - its a joy to enter the car after you've conditioned the leather with this stuff, it does wonders.

I use the Guru Leather cleaning product, even on clean looking leather the cloth will show dirt. It works well because the leather is top grain premium hide, has no PU coating.
