There is a downside to colder denser air, but not that we will find at slower road speeds. All that density that helps make horsepower is harder to push through aerodynamically.

I think its easily worth 20-30rwkw on a really cold morning, fog seems to help with wetting the intercooler surface, my temp logs always show a little less when its foggy. That could be a placebo effect, it just does seem to be a increase in horses when its really cold and wet air.
