I would rather see ford improving what the have got . Not everywhere just consintrate in the areas most needed .
Then bring out a hero car to bring the crowds in .
But leave legends lie unless fords 100% sure the legacy can live on.

for those that recon tradition must be upheld and the v8 must be part of any GTHO...

When Holden (Harry Firth), announced that he was ditching the GTS monaro 350, and replacing it with the torana XU1 with 186, (the same car that was based on a VIVA (pommy wimp mobile), the Monaro GTS was coming off consecutive bathurst victories! It would have seemed that it was not a good idea to most fans interested in Holden winning, and how do you think the V8 monaro guys would have felt! That car proved itself in the end, after the 2 years of Moffat/GTHO dominance.

The point im trying to make is if Ford was to have one last crack at using the letters GTHO, and making it a car worthy of those letters, then if the fasted way they can get around a track, (to quote FPV, 'unbeatable') was a twin turboed stripped down 6 with no 'luxury' options, then so be it.

But for a stickers and fancy wheels commemorative package....no way!

my point exactly jphanna. It might not have several dead cows, gauges and the most amazing sound system.. But by god it should be quick

You could still buy Monaro 350's though, even though the racing program had switched to the XU1, so buyers still had the choice.

The new FG GTHO, powered by environmentally friendly Yowie farts, built by the ghost of Henry Ford and purchased by imaginary customers.

Cool Harry Firth

Fair enough GMH went the way of the XU1 as against the HT/G and HQ 350s BUT in this day you cant do that as the racing is called 5 Litre IE V8 super cars back then we had some almost real racing Cortinas Fiats Datsuns and so forth and of course the mighty Mini a bloody 4 cylinder blitzing the field a V8 killer so it wont happen unless they change the rules
And one time back in about 85 there was on TV at Bathurst I saw a VK V8 standard show room car as they sometimes raced get blown away by a 4 cylinder Gemini from the CDT stable (Country dealer team) down Conrod thanks John
