What is with all the whining P platers these days? I displayed my P plates back when I had to and guess what - they never fell off once - seems like such a lame excuse to me that you guys constantly use.

And if by some 1 in a million chance they did fall off............drumroll..........you have a spare set in the glovebox (but that would be taking responsibility for your actions I guess, something few of you want to do).

Don't want to wear P plates? then don't - try and get away with it and if you do then congrats to you - but please, if you get booked then don't come on this forum with the whining about how they "fell off" - wer'e not idiots.

FFS you are supposed to know these things , it is your responsibility as a licence holder to the know the road rules. if you're the type that continues to drive in blissful ignorance maybe you should rethink your ability to hold a drivers licence

Oh and make another comment about the Police like that on here again and you'll see what "rights" I can take away.

Um we always have a stack of p-plates in the glovebox. We showed the copper but he didn't give a hoot. And as for "purposely" taking p plates off why the frick would I leave one on the front??? The only reason we got done is because we had one on the front and none on the back.

Same thing happened to a mate. When they changed the law to wearing P-plates on outside he still had ones on inside the car so when people knicked his plates they were able to pick it out. And this mate drove like a granny NEVER did anything wrong he was even against drinking and swearing.

Is it so hard to believe that their are cops. Just like in the general population??? I have met some really top coppers (Kiwi coppers are generally good for some reason) but there are some really bad ones.

I am no saint but I am respectful to coppers and neighbours. I'm always yes sir no mam which is why I feel angered that a copper could show such distaste for me and no discretion considering a plate had obviously fallen off and I was ACROSS the road from my house.

But whatever keep believing that people in authority are always saints.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a P Plate with a wire frame that sits securely under the screws of the license plates, than buying a pile of magnetic P plates and risking the fine when they keep on falling off?

Exactly right... I myself am a P plater and i cant seem to fathom why you would bother not to display them. I bought myself a set of holders which screw to the number plate, $10 and they've never come off once. Much better than a $200 as far as i'm concerned.

If P platers would actually put the P plate in a proper holder instead of shoving them under the number plate it would be easier to ensure it stayed on the car.
Thats the law, like it or not you must comply. Stop winging and grow up (like you all think you already are)

Get some secure P-plate frames.
Stop whining.
Stop doing whatever it is that keeps making you 'public enemy number one'

I've got a L-Plate on my motorbike and its made from a very thick plastic. I undid one of the screws for the number plate and mounted it using the precut holes on the plate. Being on a bike it sticks out to the side of the bike so it cops the wind coming past and when I'm riding along with some speed, it starts to flap around, but it's not once come away. Even at 100. So I'd assume that on a car mounted next to a number plate, theres no way it would flap around like it does being exposed on a bike. Just sounds to me like the plate is just wedged between the number plate and the car. Attach it properly then you should not have any problems.
