My ageing Grand father also has an beige XE Fairmont in absolutely original spec. He has looked after the car meticulously since he bought it new. He's also pledged to keep it in the family but is under attack from blokes in SA offering crazy sums of money for it Its a nice clean XE and your dad would be proud SGT Doofey.

Regards

A rub of Armorall and a vacuum is in order, but unfortunately the dead battery is stopping me at the moment. I want to get it on the back lawn for a good wash and polish.
It's in good condition thanks to my Dad. He looked after it really well and we'll just continue to do so.
There is a couple of rust bubbles in the paint though, so we'll keep an eye on it. One on the bonnet behind the bonnet protector, the other on the roof near the back window. Once again, a good wash will turn up other areas to monitor.

Well done on the new car- just a quick idea regarding the flat spot....it maybe that the accellerator pump on the carby is stuffed- mine was the same in the P5 (thanks 4VXC!) and it was the pump.
Basically, it started to stall or flutter under load or quick accelleration which was the easy way to tell.
Pop a new battery in first and see how you go.

Put in a new battery this afternoon. The flat spot was still there, but seemed to go away after about 5 minutes of running. Possibly a bit of crap in the carby and it finally dislodged itself. Will have to monitor it the next time I start her up.
Apart from that, I gave her a quick wash and vacuum.
