Hi All
I have been looking at an old international D series truck which i am thinking of using as a car carrier. It is in pretty good nick except for a blown head gasket and slipping clutch. My major problem is that it is in melbourne and i am on the Central Coast of NSW(Wyong). Would any of our truckie members be able to suggest a transport company that might be able to bring it up as a backload? Obviously the cost is important as i am only paying 3 grand for the truck( also it would need to be on a low loader or trailer with ramps so i can unload it at my place) Any ideas would me much appriciated Best regards Blake |

I can't suggest anyone but I don't reckon you will have much luck getting anyone with a low loader but i rekcon you'd be a chance for someone with a dropdeck with ramps. Alot of mobs now do farm machinery with them drive on drive off, whether they need backloads is another story though, best of luck.

Toll have self loader truck carryers (thats what I drive ) ..but arnt cheap also Tytan transport ask for Danny.. APT Andrew print transport also thats about it for thetruck carryers ..I can get the numbers for you tomorrow if you carnt find them .

I had a feeling it wasn't called a backload but i've forgotten what the correct term was? Either way if you have too look for freight to come home with your probably in a bit of trouble money wise lol.

There is no such thing in the real world outside the managers desk as backloading.

backloading is a term used by people to cut the rate of moving freight. usually for anytthing headed east or south.

Freight rates have always been higher out of Melbourne to Sydney. and always will be I think.Just due to the fact that there is more freight coming out of Melb than Sydney thus leaving more trucks looking for less freight out of Sydney.
OH but don't ask the freight company for a cut rate for freight going to Melbourne cause it just wont happen. They like to have their cake and they get to eat it as well |
