Default Pontiac "Commodore" GT G8 new pix

http://www.autoblog.com/photos/pre-p...ac-g8//427771/

I see XB Falcon egg-crate Grille inserts and GT name

How long, I wonder, till we see Commodores with Chev/pontiac and GT badges on em?

The grill is not well proportioned to the headlights. Looks weird!

The rear lip spoiler looks a million times better than the standard SS wing. The bonnet looks better also with the twin scoops, but just like the Pontiac Monaro, I dont like the grille, although I must say this time around the grille looks a bit better than on the Monaro.

I passed a whole stack of these testing near Wagga about 3 weeks ago. I reckon they look ok, better than your average VE SS (which are now everywhere round here).

I like the rear with the lip spoiler! But just like the VE those brakes look puncy inside those rims.

The just insist on tacking on that huge grill that just doesn't suit the car at all. They did the same with the Monaro's we shipped over there.

The lip spoiler is better than the Aus spoiler IMO, but the rear is just too square.

I'm actually not minding the snorkels, if they fixed the grill it would have a pretty good stance from the front. I'm also digging the interior. Go figure.

Thats what the SS should have looked like, much nicer balance frontend. If i was looking at purchasing a current GM i would purchase a 6lt calias.

Mate, these yanks have no taste what so ever!!
Most of the stuff they come up with looks Horrible and 80's, exactly like this pontiac.

The shot with the bonnet up, reminds me of a daewoo Nubira (thanks google) http://www.newcastlevehicleexchange....es/pic_008.jpg

At least they put some caracter into the cars they make or modify in this case.It looks better than the bland conservatve camry-esque styling of the current falcon / commodore models. I personaly like the American look , but then again its all a matter of taste.

yeah i will agree and say it looks better than the aus version. I especially like the boot lip spoiler.

But it is still freakin ugly, you can't deny that :

Pontiacs over here use the GT for pretty much everything (GTP too)

There's the G6 GT, Grand Prix GT, Grand Am GT, Bonneville GT, stuff that the "GT" doesn't really belong on...

Cant wait for the first tool here in Australia to convert his SS to a Pontiac "GT". And when I see it I will remove his GT badge and shove it somewhere else.

I think this sums it up:
tristo @ Oct 6th 2007 5:38AM

A commodore shouldn't have the GT badge on it, thats solely reserved for Ford Falcons.

Plus your front grill looks like it was designed by a retarded drunk.

i always laugh when i see commodore drivers who put chev badges on their car, like if the chev badge will give the car higher value or more pride or something, when in reality chevrolet is a very generic, low class car builder
. they may as well put daihatsu badges on their metro-homo-sexual utes.

The Chev badge looks a lot neater on the front of the car than the oval Lion. I'd stick a chev badge on the front too if I owned a VZ.

Looks good.
Good to see exports.

Ford isnt the only manufacturer to use the GT name.
Just how it is.

I wonder if Holden is the only company to be debadged? I've seen a Rodeo that had Ford badges on it, and "Holden is S#@t" and "FORD" stickers on it lol. I hope thats no-one on here.

I don't know if it was debaged 'technically', but I've seen the Soarer with a mix of Toyota and Lexus badges.

I'll go on record again and say that the bowtie looks pretty slick in the grille. Considering the donk, it's not that unsavory to have it there.

What about if Ford decided to use the Jaguar V8 like some of the BS rumours have speculated, would you consider it stupid if Ford owners then stuck Jaguar badges on their Falcon?

well, the bf uses the same ZF gearbox as bmw and maserati etc . So thats what i'd be doing if i was to use that mentality.

however a F6 with range rover badges would prob cause people to run their keys along the side of it more often.

If they used a hideous grille ornament and the Jaguar looked a lot slicker and more in place then no.
