Nope does nothing for me, those kits may have suited the old VB - VK cars but do nothing for the VE.

FFS, this shows about as much respect as the Harold Holt Swim Team.

Let Brocky rest in peace, dont try and cash in on his achievements.

They look alright, but the reason the old Brocks are so special, is because the man himself had input in them. (My personal favourite is the "Bluey" VK SS Group A)

These have no influence at all, and would be seen as a cash-in of his acheivements.

So this is a thread about the concept of bringing back old nameplates and the general concensus is that it should not be done and is a bit "try hard".

I wonder of the owners of all the GT, Pursuit and Super Pursuits would agree with you?

Or is it different because they are Ford not Holden nameplates?

See what you mean but its a little different.

Its like Allan Moffat dieing and then Ford releasing a Moffat Special. You will get a few sales but I dont know, something a bit NQR about it.

But ethics is not something Holden is really known for so what can ya do.

I think they are going to be a HIT, the Commo fraternity will buy them in a flash.
Just a standard commo with some stickers and good looking wheels.
No harm in that, and it will keep Peter's name in the spotlight plus hopefully some coin to the Peter Brock foundation as well.

so this is what happens when retro styling goes wrong hey?
between those wheels, SS badges (oh sorry, stickers) and front grille it's all a bit too much, it's one thing bringing back the badge, but another trying to rebuild a former hero. All they need for the final insult is to have Brock signatures all over it.

To me its like Blues Brothers 2000 movie...shameless cashing in on a dead cult figure.

Tell me though - if you had $80k and wanted something 'special' would you be getting one of these new things or looking for an original something 'special'

I agree with just about everyone here :P, I think they look great (well, better than Holden's poor attempt at the SS) and would sell like hotcakes...

No performance mods? So its just a gay show pony that cashes in on Brockies name. He must be rolling in his grave. He always made sure they performed the way he wanted them to, they were never just add ons to improve the looks, he wanted the whole package. I guess gay add ons will appeal to most Commodore owners though. :ymca:

Didn't Brock absolutely love the VE though? Pretty sure I remember a video with him belting the SS around Lang Lang and raving about it. The photochops look a bit awkward, but done a bit better, I think they'd sell. We're living in a post modern era, where anything with a hint of retro is popular. Look at the new mini, new beetle, new Fiat 500, etc.

As long as they're built in very limited numbers, I dont see too much of a problem with it, and if he did love the VE that much, I think in a way it's a nice little homage to him.
