Hi All,
Thinking of getting an xr6. Was wondering about resale value down the track. Are they easy to sell ? Which models to check out, and which to avoid. Thanks in advance, Tony |

I’d suggest the standard XR6 sedan is fast approaching parity with a well-kept Fairmont or highly optioned Falcon.
Utes in good original condition and lower mileage could exceed sedan values in time. Turbo variants and XR8s, both in unaltered condition, will soundly outgun the standard XR6 values. |

EB-EL XR6's are hard to find in decent shape, values are high for the quality of cars $3-10k
AU XR6's are heading up in value so jump on a cheapy or don't bother $3-10k BA XR6's are worth nothing so a good one will only go up $1-5k BF XR6's are worth more but are usually better condition$3-10k FG XR6's are ok not real cheap for what you get $6-12k my pick at this point in time is get a BA XR6 manual in a nice colour and don't pay more than $5k for a really nice one, keep it stock and in good condition and you won't lose money on it apart from running costs and repairs

Not the case at all with utes, in my experience The Falcon utes are holding there value very well, especially compared to the sedan non-turbo versions.
I saw an FGII Falcon ute with 120,000km advertised for $22,000 just this week at our local dealer. Not saying they'll get that much but for a vehicle of that age and that many kms to be around 60% of the original value shows they are holding their value pretty well. E: sorry, 115,000km and $21k https://www.salecityholden.com.au/ca...colpi-fg-mkii/ That's about $10k more than I paid for mine just under 12 months ago, with very similar kms, condition and features.

The problem at the moment is getting a nice clean version of the XR6 today at a responsible price in any series.
Most cheaper cars are not in the best condition, the clean versions are commanding a premium currently and will take a long time to appreciate in value. One of the biggest problems down the track that I see will be demand. Are people going to be interested in a Ford Falcon or a Holden Commodore in 10 to 15 years. Look at what 18 to 20 years olds are driving, VW, Audi, Mercs, Toyota, Mazda and BMWs more than a Falcon or Commodore. |
