No 1 spot was very close. Just over 200 cars separating Hilux from Ranger. But Ranger was up 33%, and Hilux 26%.

I was expecting the new Hilux to increase sales over Ranger, but it doesn't appear to be doing so. The big price rises might be behind that.

RAV4......4,084......around half of the sales were hybrids

Everest.....601......another promising month and good back up for strong Ranger sales.

Ford should look at getting hybrid Escape here, Toyota is cashing in on hybrids
with half of all RAV4s sold being hybrids, that's like 2,000 sales alone last month.

Hybrid is an area where new Escape could compete really well, diesel not so much.

Kudos to Toyota for keeping strong pricing with new Hilux, the improvements are there
but I suspect that over 4,000 RAV4 sales also played a big part in moderating Hilux sales.
That and 2,000 Prado sales.....

With the recent "new spec" hilux and prado being released, "I have heard" with some aftermarket bull bars, that are not designed and approved to fit yet, causing some buyers (mostly private), to put their already paid for and ready to deliver vehicles on hold. some have taken delivery, but those who live in the areas of kangaroos and livestock, choose to wait.

Let's have eleventy bazillion SUVs and then hardly sell any of them and then have only one micro car in the $35K price point and sell single figures

They should have got the hybrid here from the start. Now with the PHEV being recalled in europe, due to a supplier electrical component causing a few to catch fire during charging, we won't even see the PHEV for at least 12 months.

Are they not looking at RAV4 Hybrid sales hard enough? Cause they damn well should be. It's not an anomaly, they are selling heaps of them, and have been for months on end.

As has been Mentioned many time in the Past. if Ford Tried (a bit) harder with the 4x2 Ranger. They'd knock Hilux off...

This is what I was talking about with respect to good products that need a slight change,
Escape Hybrid would be huge hit but as usual, another big missed opportunity.
Handcuffed to Ford Europe's wrong choices for our market, probably theirs too.

Im not gonna run down Ford Aus here, they just need to press harder for vehicles that suit
our market.

Shouldnt that be their main objective already?

If the difference between having them and not is how hard theyre trying then they arent doing their job.

It's one thing to lobby for certain products but if Ford Europe doesn't make the one they want,
then there's a lot more work to do justifying a hybrid model over the 2.0 diesel they have now.
Knowing Ford, they won't respond until they've given the current models a fair chance in the market,
so it could take them six or nine months of lobbying to make that happen.

Ford Europe has the PHEV version, it wouldn't be all that hard technically to roll out the smaller
battery hybrid, the issue is the logistics of battery supply and assembly of the smaller units.
I am surprised that Europe went with the diesel, given how much they're on the nose these days.
It's another sign of just how slow Ford is to a rapidly changing market, it's made worse by Europe
trying to protect its profitable diesel side sales against a tidal wave of change.

Interesting when reading the issues with the Battery that the Escape PHEV is utilising.
It's from the same company that BMW are using and they found issues months before, issued urgent recalls and fixes.
Just took Ford to long, unfortunately.

Just imagine hoe many Hybrid PUMA Ford may have sold, if it were offered here?
Just having the option is worth something, surely. I'm sure people would now go and buy the Yoda product.

Only 2 "cars" in top 10
Corolla and suprisingly 2nd most popular car is Cerato.
the former champions, i30, maz3/6, camry etc have slid away

I think a hurdle Ford Australia has to overcome is sourcing from Europe means we are lumped (generally) with UK buyer preferences as it's the only RHD Euro country while we have a closer alignment to US buyers preferences and landscape of distance and travelling...and only Mustang and Endura (not for long) are the only rhd built Ford vehicles from North America.

Thanks for the link, according to the story BMW issued a recall earlier in October while Ford issued a recall earlier in the year so in fact Ford acted earlier and the recall involves a complete replacement of the battery pack.

Sales of China-made cars in Australia more than doubled last month.

With various car brands including Mazda, Toyota and Hyundai increasing the price of entry to their brands, Chinese made cars have surged.

This is disgusting. The way the chinese are bullying us by putting tariffs and bans on our products, we should be avoiding their junk at all costs.

What happened to national pride?

I don’t know how people can flog this **** off and keep a straight face.
Post Covid lockdown I was looking at jobs and there was a vacancy for workshop manager at ‘sinotruk’. Which appear to be rebadged MAN trucks (German). In true Chinese fashion they’ve awkwardly restyled the cab by way of amalgamating various design cues from other Euro trucks.
I’d rather take a 60% pay cut and sweep the floor at the Kenworth or Scania dealer than help establish this **** in the market.

I don't think people realise where things are made, I wonder how many bought that nasty little MG SUV thinking of the MH sports cars of yesteryear..

lots of car companys have plants there along with those famous green tractors - the cap wearing rednecks would be horrified

and there are Fords made in china
