Corolla had a pretty good month. 3200 is a step up from mid 2000s. Anyone know if they are offering discounts on the high initial pricing?

They are offering 2018 builds at low interest rates.
The current sedan is in runout and Ascent selling well to fleets and Uber’s .
The Camry also did well ,11 th best seller overall.

Since the Prado is also actually badged a Landcruiser, they total 3,505 sales for the month, which puts them in 2nd place.

A lot will argue that there are better alternatives to the 5 Toyota's cars in the top 10.
But yet there they are..
Is it reputation for reliability? they are seldom the cheapest option.

In my experience the whole dealership service experience has a got a lot to do with it.

I think it is more better the devil you know.

Personally, I am one of those in your first sentence, most of their range is bettered by something else.

I think amongst other things it has a lot to do with longevity of the particular model, my old man had a 71 Hilux, I can still buy a Hilux in 2019, must be ok and well sorted by now.
Same with Landcruiser, been evolving in all forms for decades, Prado from 96.
Corolla, around forever, Camry since 84ish, Rav4 since mid 90's.
The only mainstream product they've been inconsistent with was the smaller stuff, Paseo, Starlet, Echo, Yaris.

Compared to Ford where you've had..
Escort, Laser/Meteor, Focus
Cortina, Telstar. Mondeo
Festiva, KA, Fiesta
Courier, Ranger
Explorer, Territory, Everest
And so on.
Falcon was the only constant and they starved it of development.

Holden aren't much different, neither are Mazda or Mitsubishi.

Landcruiser wagon (200 series?) - 1163
Lancruiser pu/cc (70 series?) - 722

RAM +600%. RAM 1500 Laramie alone was only a few units short of outselling Patrol.

Toyota is all about perception... Quality cars with decent resale and sometimes good manufacturer finance offers...

They are consistent with what they do year in and year out.

Not the best engines or tech however. I could not own a current Prado or Hilux just because of their dated ICC / lack if Apple integration, but plenty of people seem to.

Interesting to see the drop in car purchases though overall. I remember growing up as a kid in the 80's people used to keep cars a lot longer, maybe we are going back to those trends especially now with 5 year warranties etc. For myself I used to upgrade alot more often when Ford were releasing new Falcons every 18 months or so, always wanted the latest and greatest, now I have nothing that excites me or makes me want to buy...

Thought the breakdown would be more in favour of the 70 series.

That's a lot of 200's @ $100k+

Fleet/Uber or not, Toyota a little more than twice second placed Mazda's sales.. Wow... New Rav 4 is selling awesome as its a huge step up from the last one and now has hybrid. They don't make anything all that great but brand perception and loyalty is their biggest strength and is something I don't think any mainstream manufacturer can match these days....

Haven’t looked at vFacts in a long time. Kia nearly outselling Ford, no Holden vehicles in the top 10 and Holden just about to fall out of the top 10. If anyone mentioned this just five years ago, most would have called them crazy

Massive fleet sales, and a huge dealer network. Plus cars with solid reputations that have been around forever like corolla, camry, hilux, lc etc.
