Agree

Would have thought it would at least look better than a Gen F 2 GTS but it just doesn't.. Disappointing for them to go out like this. That engine tho..

How is it $170k?
Wanna be some cashed up bogans around willing to spend cash like that on a Commodore.
Plenty of other (better) options out there for that price point.

What's the go with gold coloured cars these days?? I like the car but not the colour. At $170 thousand dollars I'll keep my gtp 5.0, Ts50 t3, bf f6, and fgx turbo ute and still have money left over to go on a holiday

My first thought on seeing the grill and lights was VT-VX, and that lower bumper/radiator intake just looks too busy for me.

I paid $58k for my fgx xr8, whats it got that is worth $112000 more. Think i could spend less than half that on the ford and would give the hsv a flogging and still have money left for a speedboat...

I think that was the standard wheels headline anytime hsv bought out a new model, sure i have seen it a few times.

Only German sourced car with a pushrod engine? Can't wait til they stop making them. Hated them since 78 and I always will.

Whilst the first model or 2 of earlier generations contained a lot of their Opel origins, this progressively got less & less through each generation, and by the 2006 when the VE was released, it was 100% Aussie.

Yes, the platform was co-developed with GM global, and went under a number of other GM models, but the VE & VF owe nothing to Germany, and the styling is all local.

It is a law of diminishing returns - i think most would agree that GTS-R is a better car , whether it is 100k+ better that is another question. Is M3 or C63 worth three XR8s - for some people it is and for some it is not.

Come on guys, ignore the badge. It's a good looking car and I'm sure it will be the best of everything they have. The price seems way high, I'd have expected $100,000- $120,000 myself. But as long as it sends Australian muscle car manufacturing out with a bang then as an Aussie how can you hate it?

Actually I think its the only passenger car anywhere with a pushrod engine other than a Dodge Viper. First two generations of Commodores were rubbish. 80% local content rules gave us red motors and starfire four. First decent motor in a Commodore was Nissan RB 30 in the VL. 1978 Opel Senator had OHC, 4speed aouto AND IRS, in 1978.

100% Aussie GM junk.

While I wouldn't buy it, I think there will be plenty of die-hard Dunnydoor nutters out there that will pay any price for the last and most powerful model ever produced.

A chassis designed for the power that shouldnt crack at the firewall.
A modern interior (not a 15yo left over look)
Self parking
Head up display
A chassis that handles
Factory intercooler and oil coolers
Probably a trans that wont snap an input shaft by looking at it
A tailshaft that wont come thru the floor to say gday when ya give it a bootfool.

And probably a heap more.

My GT is nice but lets face it what it came with standard didnt even compete with the ve r8 let alone the ve gts or the vf range.
And this will have even more.
It seems all i got is a motor dumped into a standard falcon with some badges. Albiet its some motor. Just lacked the refinement the hsv's had.

Cant say i'll be seeing one of these in my driveway .
But thats probably due to the price and my bank balance not being equal lol.
Throw me the keys and id happily have it.

Man some of you Ford "fans" talk some ***** sometimes.

It looks ok... and who cares if it has a pushrod engine.. all the classic Fords you go about do also.

Carbon Ceramic brakes and wheels from the Camaro Z28 it looks like. New fenders to fit the wider wheels. Much like, much want.

Add to that off the top of my head
9.9" torque vectoring cooled diff
Tough as nails 6 speed auto
AP 6 pistons & 2 piece rotors 390mm
5 way electronic adjustable stability control including steering
Forged wheels
Heated seats
Better stereo
Blind spot mirrors
Collision alert
Passive entry
Keyless start
Does not come with Dunflops

and this

Will be interesting to see what gets added on the W1

HSV have built some very sexy cars over the years, and they are undoubtedly serious performance cars.

WTF were they thinking with the front end on this thing? What's with that big ugly vertical bar in the grille?

The lower blacked-out treatment might look better with a bit of body colour on it? Specifically the bit that follows the lines of the mouldings under the headlights.

They also should have gone with twin projector lenses in the headlights, that would have given the front end a whole lot of mean. The inner reflector lights just say taxi.

Mmm what I thought too.... Good effort on HSV and their development team for being able to pull it off and give the aussie market this, it is packed with some amazing goodies but out of all the VF commodores give me an SS or R8 look wise..

Cant wait to see some real world results.

The more I look at it the more I see 'WRX'.

Yes, performance testing will be interesting. I hope it sets the bar at an appropriate level for the 'last ever'* Aussie musclecar.

* Where have I heard that before?
