I vaguely remember hearing about these beauties. Can anyone else provide any info on the turbo xfs - not sure if this link works

From memory, Dick Johnson was dabbling with the idea of setting up a Ford SVO operation. He purchased the vehicles and did the mods in house, it never took off so the idea was canned, something along the lines that Ford wouldn't warrant or endorse the product, so if DJR went ahead and built them, they would have to do the work and warrant the product themselves. and in the end it just became to expensive and would still be lacking compared to the Holden products.
I could be wrong but I think it went something like that!!

Also produced 200rwkw, from memory. There was scans of an article in a car mag (probably Wheels) on here somewhere. Definitely been discussed in at least one other thread on here.

Almost certain they were developed with Mike Vine Turbochargers in QLD who are still around.

IIRC Dick had a personal yellow XE S-Pack (bought new), which he was developing the HKS 6-cylinder turbo concept on, circa 1985 or so.

HKS in Japan were fabricating the components, and made them to spec based on testing results achieved by Dick.

The project got as far as there being several motors put together for testing by Ford, but the testing ultimately failed when tested under load (again, IIRC).

As to which cars ended up with the HKS kit installed might be a bit of a mystery, but one may well be the XF listed in the eBay ad.

I contacted the seller on eBay and he doesn't really have anything of substance with the car to confirm it's history. He advised he had contacted Ford and had a letter of authenticity (freely available for any Ford delivered in Australia, and only mentions specs as it left factory - which wouldn't include turbo kits fitted post production). He advises it was a "Ford executive car", but again with nothing substantial to back up what this means.

My recollection is when I lived in Bathurst many beers ago a ford fanatic told me about a turbo xf as I had a xf ute and we were arguing about it in one of our ford v Holden v Bathurst knowledge smoko time routines. This guy didn't miss a race - he would perch on Murrays cnr for the whole 5 days. I think the eBay looks plain and may be legit
