Default HELPPPP...how to reset immobiliser?!?!

I went to start the car tonight and the immobiliser seems to have been tripped. Now I can't start the car, and you can't even feel the click from the ignition off to on position.

Is there anyway to reset the car? I can still lock and unlock with the remote, but the ignition seems to have gone dead, and the immobiliser symbol is flashing.

The car is a 2004 BA Ford Falcon.

Can be many things but a battery change (or charge) is always the first step.
Leave (the new or charged) battery disconnected for a while...longer the better...and try to start again.

I've unhooked the battery and will leave it for 10 minutes and try again.

I'm just doing some googling now. It seems you might have to leave it in the ON position for 30 mins to reset the system. Don't know how true that is.

What is strange is that from Off to On to Crank it feels completely loose. No clicks.

Mate, I think your barrels broken. Immobilizers don't trip like that, they aren't alarm systems.

The barrels on the BA's are really week, so it's a common issue. Usually happens cause you have quite a lot of stuff on your keys or just general bad luck. Ford really cheaped out on the ignition barrel.

Battery disconnection didn't fit it. When I turn the radio on it says "Code" so pretty sure it's security system somewhere.

If it is just the barrel, would the Immobaliser light keep flashing? and would the Radio show "CODE"?

Happened to my fg yesterday, radio asked for security code and immobiliser turned on. New battery and everything was back to normal.

When you turned the car from OFF to ON to START, did it still have the spring feel? Mine is completely dead, there is no resistance whatsoever.

There was no loss of resistance with mine, so I would guess yours is a broken barrel.

CODE on head unit means you need to re enter the head unit code back in for it to work. The code i think should be in your books. Nothing to do with ignition, its because you disconnected the battery

The "CODE" came up before I disconnected the battery.

ignition switch is most likely cause - 30 min reset is not relevant to this model - check if any fuses especially under bonnet fuse box have blown - code is not in book as radio is programmed to vin No. with a scan tool and should restart when ignition is working correctly -(occasionally needs reprogramming with scan tool however)- pull steering column cover off and check back of ignition switch -

Just been doing a lot of reading on this broken barrel issue.....I'm convince that this is the problem as the key does not spring back when turned to START position...

seems like there is an entire industry built on this problem. Ridiculous!!!

Ive had my BA Ghia for 6 years and had 3 battery changes
and never had "code" come up it did in my old AU Fairmont every battery change
and the flashing imobiliser light "a red hand" on the BA lights up when I turn off the key sounds like ignition to me but have never experienced it
good luck John

BA's don't have codes. Happen to my first BA XT once but lost all the dash including fuel, speedo, revs and temp. Had to take it to ford dealership and they fixed it. The BA was 2 years old.

No need to change the barrel and no need to reset the keys. Just get the original barrel fixed. Cost me around 500 bucks to get someone to come onsite to fix it.

I used this guy:
http://reliablelocksmiths.com.au/for...FYiCvQodb9oKQg

He gives a 10 year guarantee and will come onsite anywhere to fix it if it breaks again!

Bottom line is, it SHOULDN'T break...just shonky Ford design. I'm guessing once you fix it in properly there is .0001% it will ever break again.

Hey, just read your other thread. Are you getting any resistance when you move the key from off to on position? If not, then it is most likely to be ignition barrel issue.

Hi everyone I'm new to this, but I have been experience a very similar problem, but a lot more unpredictable. I was hoping for some tips on what to do. I have a falcon BA wagon, The barrel was replace approx. 2 years ago and in the last year the immobilizer seems to stop the car from starting, so far I have not gotten stuck anywhere, but basically I can drive stop for a few minute and start no trouble, or it turnover or it will be dead. I stop trying count to 100 and then try again and 8 times out of 10 it will start, sometimes I lock and unlock the can and that helps sometimes. It doesn't seem weather related and I never know when or where it will do it., the only consistent thing is the Immobilizer light flashes. Any ideas?
