Following advice from a fellow vehicle enthusiast, I contacted NRMA, Veteran, Vintage and Classic vehicle insurance.
I was surprised at the result - I could save $250 (read on) a year. Without going into too much detail, I asked for quotes, without notice. The quotes were based the same values as my current insurer. I have a total of 6 vehicles insured, including fully comprehensive (3) and 3rd party(3). The quotes for each vehicle (3 fully comprehensive) were a lot cheaper. As NRMA only insure all vehicles fully comprehensive, I had to put a value on the 3rd party vehicles, which incurred an increase (on average) of $13.00 per vehicle. As I already have home insurance with NRMA, I received a 20% discount. The other benefits were also equal to or better than my current insurer including; the same excess for all vehicles and keep the wreck. It is worth reading their site to get an acurate description. After reading the information on their site, the quote and recommendation from a friend, I am prepared to move my vehicles across. But before I do, I am seeking feedback from forum members who have had NRMA as their insurer for their veteran, vintage of classic vehicle. Thanks in advance, John |

Firstly have you tried AAMI for home insurance?
There is no limit or value on their home insurance policy. They will rebuild whatever you had for whatever it costs so no worries about being under insured. Many years ago NRMA was my main insurer but not any more. The market has changed and continues to change so each year i shop around. generally I'd recommend Shannons or Youi. Not the cheapest but good prices and good policies for cars |

Whilst not a current client of theirs I have been told by numerous customers who are in the industry that they are very big on pushing cars through as quick as possible with the repairs process and using secondhand parts. That said, if you know your panel guy well it shouldnt matter.
I have the Ranger and the GT and am a current NRMA Roadside Assist member, I am thinking of changing them both over. AAMI have them now but probably wont for long because of their "DGAF" attitude to what the GT is and what i want for it.

I've not used NRMA but going by what I've heard, I decided to stick with RACQ for car insurance. It cost me $580, NRMA were just under $500.
I've made claims with RACQ and I couldn't fault their process. My wife's WRX and house are insured with Shannons. I've also claimed with Shannons for both the car and house and again I can't fault their process. I would have my XR50 with them but they wanted $950 for it. For a classic car, I would stick with Shannons.

I have not used them for Vintage or Classic cars however I will say this:
1. Their call centre staff are the best, bar none. 2. Don't touch their 'NRMA APPROVED' repair centres with a barge pole 3. They are usually the cheapest, this comes from cutting costs elsewhere, like complaints... they don't care if you had a horrendous experience and won't make it up to you other than beating a competitors price... zero 'ducks' given Been with Shannons and now QBE for about 3 years, Shannons were great too and the only reason I went to QBE is because I wanted everyone to be covered who drove the car. You can PM me if you want the dirty laundry |

After watching NRMA screw over someone at work I will never touch them with a barge pole.

NRMA were good to me when my EL got written off. They pretty much chased after me to get stuff sorted. Got more than I thought I would have as well. Currently with SGIC (SA NRMA). The only thing that worries me is *all mods are valued when the assessor comes to look*......

I have my Customline insured with NRMA Vintage and Classic cars.
It is cheaper than Shannons You get to keep the wreck if it is written off They will tow the vehicle to a repairer if you are more than 150kms from home and they will give you accommotion too Can't ask for more than that at the very low prices they are charging |

Nothing but good things to say about NRMA. Only stopped using them last year once the XR8 market value dropped too low and I moved to a specialist insurance company. Have made claims and the process was smooth and I had choice of repairer. All in all, it was fantastic. I still use them for home insurance as they have never given me an issue with claims. Proof of purchase and away we went.
My cars at the moment are with AAMI cause they were cheaper than NRMA.
