Default Talk me out of Changing Camps?

So i've had an NL lane, 2 b series utes 6 and V8, territory and turbo territory.
Have enjoyed them all for different reasons but i'm thinking of changing again and am a little stuck for choice.

Currently have the TurboT but it hates being restricted around town all the time whilst the wife does the shopping, so it seems to be stuck in some sort of "cold loop" mode or something. runs very rich. however as soon as i get it on the open road it's magnificent and reasonably economical. (after a computer reset)

I'd like a wagon or BIG boot, a bit more comfort and some power under the hood so my choices are limited, and not much from FORD.

-Newer Turbo GHIA (step up in luxury)
-Jeep grand cherokee (bit much $ though) and seemed too small inside for the money compared to the territory (but it is a HEMI)
-SS or Calais spec V8 Sportswagon (but felt a little cheap and feels like you're sitting on the road)
-Caprice V8. Bigger practical boot storage than terry and it's an 8- but a few of the VE common issues sound scary now knowing the fords inside out....lots of car for the money

keep terri as the toy and buy a jap wagon for the shopping trolley... spend the change on making terri angry for fun

Late model V8 Caprice are very undervalued, the V8's are normally privately owned. A lot of car for the money. Just so long as you know whey will be worth barely anything when it comes time for you to eventually sell it.

Just make sure your wife is comfortable in parking the thing. Build quality is a little worse that the local Fords.

this i think is my favourite option, an 08 model under 100k's for about 18-20k should see a changeover of about 3-5grand. only about 250-300mm longer than the terry taking into account nudge bars and tow bars

Thought about getting a good tune to sort out the economy issue with the option of switchable power/Econ modes?.

Take the Terri to trusted workshop get it tuned and properly sorted. It may well delay your decision

I hope you have lots of cash for oil for the Holden. And make sure you have a battery jump starter in the car due to all the electrical issues. If I we're you I would be keeping the territory. But if you want something new go the jeep srt or a 300c srt.

Test drove a v6 diesel Grand Cherokee. I would probably buy that over a hemi after owning a Chrysler hemi.
The v6 turbo diesel is almost a quick, but uses about half the amount of fuel.

But honestly don't think I could trust that brand any time soon. The 300c was the worse car I have ever owned. Quality, reliability and maintaince costs were rediculous

I would also go with the Grand Cherokee diesel. I recommended it to my dad to replace his WK Caprice 5.7. He's got two now. The 2009(ish) Mercedes 3.0 CRD and the newer VM Motori 3.0 CRD. Loves them both, pulls with them, never had a problem with either one. Great fuel economy, very comfortable, quick enough, lots of torque, 3.5T towing capacity.

Not really worried about the v8 costs as round town makes up as little as 100k a week and it's only 200 a year rego extra. Decent jeeps 2010 shape onwards are still too dear for too little advantage over a Terri I think.

Been having a good hunt over at ls1 (been needed to start an account!) but I can't seem to find anything definite as a fix for battery issues and drains. Anyone know for sure? The conclusion I've come up with is that about 5 different scenarios cause the dead electrical issue- failed battery, door connector loom, speaker, entertainment unit in rear or Bluetooth, or faulty bcm programming.

Later model (up to 2010) in a ghia might attract me for the extra comfort levels, which is really what I'm after now. Ride still not as good as a caprice though.

I'd still consider this option, I've done a quick search but I rally need a dummy's guide to tuning options. I'm not looking for any particularly big power gains, but I'd like a bit better efficiency and maybe the option to switch between power/economy mode. I'm in toowoomba however and I think I'd have to go to Brisbane perhaps. What sort of costs might I expect for this. Most basic level of 'tune' and where?any ideas?

I picked up an 09 series I sportswagon (in manual ) just before Christmas and am loving it. It had just 95k on the clock, and squeaks and rattles were less than my wife's brand new
TS terry.
Would probably have preferred a series II or SSV but couldn't quite afford one. It's only really the audio that's disappointing in the series I

Jamie at ( forced performance) in toowoomba can tune is very good from what I hear some very powerful cars have come out of that shop.

I just brought a 6 litre caprice
Its that big you could live in it
Heaps of power super comfy but sporty at the same time
It's got everything in it and the boot is so big you could fit two bodies in it

Take one for a test drive

That's the impression I got. I drove a '12 model and was impressed. Double pram takes up less of the boot than in the territory. Any gremlins worth reporting In yours?

One is an 09 model with only 70,000k
Like any car its hit & miss
The gadgets are usually the problems
The 2 issues I have are
Tyre pressure monitoring system , I get an error warning then I park it for a few hours and its good again

The DVD player has an error code requiring a dealer to reset it

Yours is a lot newer do its likely that most of the bugs have been sorted

I still think its a lot of car fot the price and who doesn't want 270 kw under the Bonnet
That's what makes it so drivable

Yes it can be switched off
I'm buying a set of 20 inch VE super sports wheels for mine so I'm not going to fit the sensors to the new wheels

I got mine thoroughly checked before I handed over the cash
Every thing was working but with in a few days the error showed up on the DVD player

Once I get this fixed it will be 100% again
I don't regret my purchase, I love the car . Remeber these were $75k new . Why would you ever buy a new car again when you can pick one up a few years later for 30% of the cost !

Technology, practicality, economy, meh. Just ask yourself, will you feel happy washing a Holden in the driveway on Saturday mornings? Will it give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside that a Ford will?

Nothing wrong with the white & red
This is my third having owned a 5 litre VT Berlina with a HSV kit on it and a CV8 R limited edition Monaro - both great cars
Then got a BA XR6 which has been a very reliable car and now I have the Caprice

The main reason I chose the caprice is that ford don't have a long wheel base car ( a recent one) and it was the biggest bang for my buck I could get - better than anything else available in my price range
