Default More riots planned this weekend over event cancellation..

Great....

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/two...-1225847881906

"PROTESTERS angry at the cancellation of the Easternats drag racing event are planning more riots at Bob Jane T-Mart outlets this weekend, a court heard.

Police today opposed bail for two youths accused of joining the Easternats riot on March 19 at the Oakleigh Bob Jane T-Mart outlet because of fears they may join another planned riot this weekend.

Police have told the Melbourne Magistrates Court they have gathered intelligence online from Facebook and other car enthusiast websites outlining plans for protests over the cancellation of the event, which was planned to go ahead this weekend."

First up let's keep this thread civil.

Secondly - if I was the Area Commander I think I would be handing out a whole heap of rubber bullets and sitting in the bushes waiting.

There was talk about this the very day after the first riots and I received an email saying another protest was going to take place. Since then, all plans for it to go ahead were cancelled because of the public outrage and rightly so!

I am happy to stand corrected on this...but if you read the story quoted..

"Police have told the Melbourne Magistrates Court they have gathered intelligence online from Facebook and other car enthusiast websites outlining plans for protests over the cancellation of the event, which was planned to go ahead this weekend."

I think it is just as it is written...WAS planned to go ahead..and that is why there bail was opposed because they were planning another one.

If it was a riot, Insurance would not have paid out for the shop repairs or damage to the vehicle that was flipped over...

Easternats is not a drag racing event, it's a car show event. Obviously the copy doesn't sound sensational enough with the facts.

I somehow doubt there was any intellegence in this. Lies, misinformation, and the potential to make all car enthusiasts public enemy number 1 would be more the order of the day.

Also, intelligence is not a word I would use to describe anything done by the fools who we pay absurd somes of money to run our Police force. (N.B. meaning the Police Commissioner and the idiot beaurocrats, not the boys in the blue).

If the "new planned" riots eventuate and happen, maybe it will be a good start for the cops. To show they have control, and respect, by actually doing something and nabbing them at the scene, and straight in jail. No more slaps on the wrists. This ******** has to stop soon, and they need to take control of the streets. Its no good having them parking 100's of meters away just watching. I'm sure they have tear gas, pepper spray and a water cannon on hand.

I don't care what the insurance payout it....

Do we have to go this ALL OVER again???

Does it have to be explained?

It wasnt a protest, it was a riot.

Wasn't making a conspiracy theory at all. It was in your OP. The media alleged that Police were gathereing intelligence from car enthusiast websites.... um...... this is a car enthusiast website. Isn't it? I haven't seen anything here supporting riots. I don't think many self respecting and genuine enthusiast websites would be condoning riots regarding a cancelled event.
