Hi
Has anyone had this problem with their 2006 Manual Fiesta and offer a solution? When changing up or down from 3rd to 4th gear at between 50 – 65 kms/hr the car has a clutch shutter/vibration which can be felt right through the car. It’s possible to hold the clutch ¾ out in this speed range and have the car shutter continuously, it also occasionally does it changing down to 2nd and up to 5th gears. Problem started around 20000kms. At 30000kms service, dealership said there was no problem. At 45000kms service, took dealership mechanic for drive to demonstrate problem. Mechanics answer was “its clutch slip and its normal”. Had the car since new and it’s still under warranty and never been driven hard. I feel the dealer is fobbing me off until warranty runs out. Also, dealer claims if clutch is the problem it’s only covered for 20000kms, is this true? Took the car to another dealership for second opinion, said never heard of problem but willing to look at clutch/gearbox however if deemed normal wear & tear I pay, a real catch 22 situation. Any opinions appreciated. Thankyou |

sounds pretty bloody odd to me. no manual car should do that, unless you aren't changing up or down right with the right amount of smoothness?... Maybe get them to drive it with you in the car to see if they do it, that means its not to do with technique. but yeah, it shouldn't do that... "clutch slip" should only happen when the clutch is on its way out when it just revs the engine and doesn't really go anywhere, maybe they have a different definition.
End of the day, wear and tear should not happen on a car/clutch with 20,000 - 40,000 Kms on the odo.
