Default TRD price drop already

Toyota have already cut up to $4500 off the price of the TRD Aurion already. Who could have seen that coming?

It was pretty funny to see Wheels XR6 Turbo Vs TRD Aurion Vs Subaru Liberty GT comparo where the XR smoked the Aurion down the strip with a 13.8 Vs the Turds low 14. LOL. And the XR is nearly 15 grand cheaper.

Tty telling a Toyotaphile that!

I tried and all I got was some rhetoric abou the Toyota being a "better package", the Aurion is "F1 engineered" and the Nissan GTR won Bathurst in 92.

Left me confused.

I just dont see Toyota as a performance car company. People buy them for they're reliability. Leave the performance to HSV and FPV or atleast bring back the Supra.

At least in Australia. There's been the Supra, cars like the Celica GT4. You might even count cars like the Lexus SC400 which is brought here as a grey import. They have a few cars that are "sporty", they just don't sell them via Toyota Australia - we get stuck with all the boring ones.

If only Toyota had sold their proper performance sedans here over the last few years...we ma not even have an HSV or FPV around.

Toyota Aristo - 2JZ Twin Turbo 3.0L Inline 6 4 door sedan (RZ Supra motor)
Toyota JZX100 - 1JZ Turbo 2.5L Inline 6. Looked like it was based on the late 1990's Camry but with a much better looking front and rear treatment.

Both cars were rear wheel drive, both had all the electric fruit, both had manual as an option, both pulled low 14's out of the box. This is for cars dating back to early 1990's.

From memory if they brought these out back then; we would have had EF XR6 Falcon pulling a mid 15 sec, and the VR HSV pulling a flat 15.

Both Fod & Holden were very agricultural compared to the Toyota rockets.

I think we are lucky these car weren't marketed here, Toyota instead focused on it's front wheel drive 4 cyl/V6 variants with the same chassis.

Maybe our car culture would have been too primitive 10 years ago to have given these cars a chance.

Whatever reason, I'm glad Toyota Japan aren't serious about providing a serious alternative to the Aussie locals.

good cars the supra my little brother has 2x 86 models as you described all the electricals abs, 3.0 turbo some say the supra`s were very under rated, more like the 1st lexus but they were in a different price range to the locals, 60-70k new apparently, not really a fair comparison.

That only stopped because Holden needed a handicap and the mugs wanted a return to the 'mighty' V8, Ford had the Sierra at least. If it wasnt for rule changes, Nissan would have kept winning IMO, or Ford and Holden would have lifted their game. As said, Ford had the Sierra so they were in there with a chance.

Was Aus ready for a $70-80k ED or VP/R whatever?

Thing is, they stopped making the better stuff in Japan too, no more Celicas, Supras, MR2's, or any other straight 6 turbo powered vehicles. Seems like they made Australia a whitegoods only market before they did the same thing to Japan.

.
Last month they were offering a 4.9% interest rate and free 12 months comprehensive insurance on the TRD, clearly having trouble moving them.
