I guess you could tow with a mustang? Why not?
Mustang would have no problem towing up to a 22 foot boat. - on a straight flat road or a decline.. Not so great on corners/ or slippery boat ramps..

Ford is a business. Enthusiasts are only relevant to a business, when the business can see a benefit. We are no longer relevant.

As for the XR8 announcement at the same time as the FPV announcement.....

But to try to make out that they have done it because of popular demand for the XR8 is just insulting to IQ's of Ford supporters.
I can understand your viewpoint completely however maybe it's not a case of Ford being tight to save money but rather Ford being tight to stop loosing even more money.

Thanks mate. I feel like we're just being "milked", maybe that's the beers talking from my long liquid lunch but I feel like they just want to attach the suction device to my wallet, give me SFA more than I already have and suck me bloody dry for one last time. Does anyone else feel that way ?

Its just my very long emotional attachment and history with the FPV brand that's stopped me doing anything, that's all and nothing else mate. Today that doesn't seem like a valid reason anymore, in fact I feel like its a bit silly. and sometimes I feel like a silly old goat that's just being milked. Why havn't I already bought the SRT8 ? Today I can't give you a valid reason, in fact after yesterday announcement it seems like a bloody good idea. They're not investing any more real money in the FPV brand so why should I ?????

Thanks mate. One thing I know for absolute certain after today's careful thinking is I won't be one of the muppets conned into parting with heaps more coin for a tarted up bit of old mutton next year. There's absolutly nothing meaningful that FPV can give me that fiddling with my own suspension won't do simply because Ford have stopped investing in the FPV brand and as I suspected and posted at the time they bought Prodrive out, Ford's complete ownership of FPV would be nothing more than an excercise in cost reduction and milking the most out of existing loyal fans. What have they added since they brought FPV out, NOTHING. What will they add next year of substance NOTHING.

It really saddens me to say this but in my opinion its a truly pathetic and sad way for the marque to end and I am sorry but when Sinead Phillis tells us that they will be doing something special for a fitting way to send the brand off in style, or words to that effect, I think this is just plain good old fashioned marketing B.S., there will be nothing there that a current high end model FPV owner will be able to proudly say, yeah, I got something really special for my final spend. No guys, you will just be MILKED with some new mixture of the existing parts bin and some silly stickers. If you're in the market for an FPV you might as well just get a good deal on the best priced one you can find on Car Sales now and be done with it.

Now the FPV brand is confirmed to be on death row as far as i'm concerned the emotional bond is broken.

Not yet, but with FH due in the 3/4 of 2014 one would assume until they do the change over so around Aug-Sep?

BossXR8 would be able to give a better idea on how long before the launch they will start production of the new model.

Hi Rodge, Sorry but after a Vixen.

Head up mate, your cars tough don't let the bean counters ruin it. Keep your car and remember FPV for what it was not what it has become. FPV invested heavily in the 5.0 and its the best V8 IMO aussie has seen. Thats our reason for looking for a MKII oppose to waiting for FH. The FH will always be just be a model that was designed to get ford through to closure.

I am thinking somewhere between Jan to April. If I remember correctly, they closed the books on the FG Boss 5.4 in December/Jan 2009/2010. After that, the 5.0 litre Miami was released in October 2010. Perhaps this is a question best placed to an honest Ford dealer

Listen to the butt-hurt GT owners realising that 'their' motor will be in a lowly XR8

Reminds me of the VT GTS owners when the VT II SS came along

Mate I couldn't give a ****! The more people who get to experience this great engine the better imo. Go the XR8 & what better idea than to have a Dick Johnson special edition XR8!!
Wouldn't part with my GTP for it but I would consider buying one for the mrs.
I will probably get shouted down for this but I totally understand Fords logic! Why bother spending/ wasting millions on developing a new GT Falcon when the Mustang is just around the corner! Especially when the money is not there in the first place & secondly they will only sell a handful anyway in reality.
I love my GTP FPV & in my opinion is everything & more than I want or probably need in a performance car & I see no reason to ever part with it but......I am in a declining minority!
I think most of us knew the FG was the last of the GT's so I am not sure what all the fuss is about. The FH will be the new XC & speaking of sticker packs, there is a certain white XC with pretty blue stripes that most of us on here would like to own.
I think with all that is happening with Ford Australia & todays economy, we probably should be thankful that Ford is going to provide us with a V8 powered sedan at all with the FH.
My 2 cents worth.

Still after two days i am sorry people i can't get my head around this statement.
FPV won't make a GTHO. quite simple none to be made under the FPV Name.

We've always said - right from the start of FPV - that we would only do a GTHO if we could really do it justice. I find the statement very misleading. Impatient people like me would like to know whats on the horizon. Personally I have a FPV GT. Luv the car but i am due for a change.

You leave people in a dilemma
Do you buy one of the last Falcons
an XR8 or personally i would like a Mustang GT with all the fruit.
Maybe trade the mrs car in on one and give her my GT she loves it.

I find it hard to fathom you can tell us what coming in 2 years (mustang)but can't say whats coming in the next 6 months. This style of your marketing and advertising sucks. The ford ship is sinking and your throwing out Life Rings. You had the best car and you marketed so poorly. You had HSV dead in the water with your product they went for more fruit in the cars and you changed a screen, wheels and some decals.

Just my thoughts flame on...LOL

Just look at all the technology in the GTS, I'm sorry, but that's really the sort of kit I wanted in my next FPV. If it was there I'd lap it up keenly and be sooo happy for the brand, heck we all would. If Ford had the vision to invest they could have built a competitive FH FPV, instead they raised the white flag and will now go out with a pathetic sticker pack wimper. Its all so very very sad.

Oh but we have the Mustang they will say. I am sorry bit a much smaller Mustang 2 door simply won't cut the mustard for me.

Its not that different to how Chrysler Australia bailed out all those years ago.

You've got one of the best FPV's made. Enjoy it, but if this announcement has soured the ownership experience for you, sell it and move on.

Ford aren't treating fans very well, but the harsh truth is, Ford never did.

Excuse my ignorance but given that some people are talking up the Mustang, is the new Mustang GT the only V8 performance replacement for the Falcon GT or XR8 or whatever it will be called when the light goes out?

If so, is it also available as a 4 door?

If not, there will be a lot of fancy talk needed to get one in the driveway to replace most of the existing family performance 4 doors.

The Mustang may be cool and desirable but as a 2 door coupe it’s like all other coupes, niche market only.

Does anyone know approximately how many jobs might be lost?

Quantas just put 300 off next year also!

Oh, and a new GT will NEVER be worth what an original will....EVER!

And the way its sounding the market will be flooded with GT's even in 30 yrs!

We all knew this day was coming, Fpv closing and then the end of the Falcon around the corner. With all this happening it's not going to stop me from enjoying my Fpv today, tomorrow next week next year.. In actual fact I'll be enjoying it more knowing it's a special car.

there still a great car, even if the people behind it are morons.lol

they are the best value for money if you want to extract big power for min cost.

however pride can play a big part when you get the spare parts bin and a sticker kit for a new model. its gone on far too long from fpv.

fpv die hards are prepared to pay good money for somthing new but have been let down with cheap decals and repainted rims of former models.

shoe on the other foot thank god they put the sc engine in the gt,s. they did do somthing right.

Ford have been up front all along and still they can't please people on here. They told you they were leaving and now there is whinging about people being let down by the brand.
If you have an FPV keep it and enjoy it for years to come, if you want a SRT or whatever then buy it, but stop the endless whining that you have been shafted.
Ford are in the business of making and selling cars, the public didn't buy enough to keep it viable , so how about enjoying what they did give us and wait and see what's to come instead of this constant denigrating of MY favourite brand of automobile.
