Good on HSV for giving its fan base one last hurrah, a world class send off for this ultimate Commodore. I don't mind it, its spec sheet is pretty impressive for a Aussie built sedan.
Personally would've loved to see Ford AU make available a few stripped out lightweight Sprints for sale at the right (appropriate) price of course lol. Instant sell out perhaps? cheer's, Maka

Lots of detail in these. Even the front guards are unique being 12mm wider to allow for the fatter tyres.
Curious to see the track times of this vs the high end euros. Winton AMG GT-S 1:32.5 W1 prototype 1:33.2 AMG C63S 1:36.3 (fitted with cup tyres and carbon-ceramic brakes) VF GTS 2 1:37.2 Pretty impressive but we don't know if the prototype was running the final spec

Its stuff like this that people forget and the tooling, testing, compliance for these little unique details all add to cost.

I'm sure it's functional but it just looks bad (to me). I don't expect many of these will ever see time on a track though.

I would not be surprised if W1 is not available to the media to road test............GTS R on the other hand will most likely get that gig. Cheers Mick |

So much for 'waiting list'. Wonder if speculators are also snapping up W1 personalised plates in the hope of on-selling for profit |

295 Trofeo's on the rear, 265s on the front. How long do they last and what do they cost to replace? Is it five grand every 5000 kays?

The W1 seems to be getting some press in the US, where the LS9 must be highly revered.
Road & Track have an odd idea of linking it to Mad Max: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...w1-first-look/ |

1:33 at Winton is smoking
Look further down the list at the cars it is mauling Audi R8 Audi RS6 Both serious impressive cars and 5 - 6 seconds slower on a small track I will give it to them, from manufacturing their own input shafts to scrounging the 300 engines from various warehouses to working out new pumps and pulleys, new guards, suspension etc etc etc they have gone balls out to make it the best they could. Anyone thinking otherwise is just pure sour grapes.

It's the price you pay for out of the box factory performance with warranty. It is what it is. You can't ask for the cake with icing and expect to pay for just 1 biscuit. Reminds me of the whingeing FPV fans that complained of brakes and tyres and suspension in early model GT and F6. So ford whacked on brembos , R spec and wider rears. The price went up and the whingeing continued that it was too expensive to replace brakes etc etc. You then had some owners replacing decent quality OEM stuff with rubbish from RDA and sub spec pads and even worse tyres than sport Maxx to save a quid. End of the day extreme performance comes at an ongoing cost. It just seems bizarre that people expect to be paying Kia Cerato pricing for these things...

Whats with hoping it goes up against some other dearer car? To see it lose or fail?
The reason the gts went up against the xr8 (or gt-f) was because of the life long battle of holden vs ford. And they put the best ford had to offer up against the best holden has to offer. There's always comparisons against other makes too. I think ive read an article where they put the gts up against audi bmw and amg etc. The gts was about $80-100k cheaper yet still did pretty good. Would be cool to see the w1 in same. But myself. Bugger the skyline or audi etc. Lets see fords best vs holdens best again. W1 vs shelby gt mustang perhaps? |

Not to mention testing and compliance costs. You dont get much economy of scale for such a small run of vehicles, $170k is not at all unreasonable, and TBH, I'd be surprised if HSV are making that much profit on them.

i think manufacturers need to set some policy regarding deposits for unannounced cars.
i put 5 grand down well over a year ago. 4 th in line. no call no nothing. go in last week to the dealer and get told sorry, that means fa. basically they will sell to who ever they want infering that price will play the bigest part. i would have thought that just maybe the dealer and hsv might handle potential customers willing to pay big deposits on a 200k car that might or might not get made a little better. if i missed out because some guy that bought 5 hsv got preference or they were in front of me in the que fair enough, but this process just like the gt and others has gone badly. but some how i don't think they really care. another reason to dislike dealers i guess . old elson might be onto something |

Trying driving them in the wet. They are not suitable for wet driving according to HSV. Better question will be who on earth would insure you with these tyres?
