Being a car enthusiast has absolutely nothing to do with how you mod your car, or don't mod your car, and everything to do with attitude. |

I think that white Camry on page 1 of this thread (XVIIIR) looks pretty decent. Would still prefer an E series falcon but that's probably just the Ford enthusiast in me speaking.

As someone who drives a stock standard unmodified Fairmont, and driven the latest model Camry Hybrid, I beg to differ. In my view my BF is a far better car to drive, despite the fact that it's noisier, rattlier, thirstier and generally less refined.
That being said, I agree that judging whether someone is a "car guy" by the car they drive is just stupid. Just because some people drive - and like - Camrys doesn't mean that they aren't enthusiasts. To me, being an enthusiast isn't about modifying cars, RWD, V8, wings, spoilers, fast cars etc, it's about the enjoyment you derive from them, and from the act of driving.

Its no different then spending money on a Discovery or GU Patrol. Its like an off road enthusits spending money and putting a lot of work into his/her rig. It gives them enjoyment. Most people lose money anyway playing around with cars. So it is most of the time, a waste of money, but what you lose in money. You make up for in enjoyment. You yourself would know the blood sweet and tears (in my case hurling abuse at a vehicle if some things not going right while working on it) its not as easy and cheap as some people think. The amount of prep work that goes into a paint job can be ridiculous but it is worth it in the end. Having help work on and even work on my own cars. I understand the work goes into cars. While yes I probably wouldn't modify a Camry. There are people that are into them.if someone's spent a lot of dough playing around with a Camry. I would respect them for the work done to there car! Any car for that matter!! Whether I liked that model car or not

There might not be a lot of people keen on modding Camrys in Australia but I'd bet there would be way more of them around the world than Falcon and Commodore owners put together :
