Ohhh, ok , so all the HO's that were crashed while racing at tracks all round Aust during the early 70's, that were repaired and now sit in museums and collecters garages arent realy HO's anymore !

The fact is Cars can be put back together , BETTER by hand sometimes than they were when built at the factory ! And with the parts available these days By specialised Resto places (Like the place run by David Fluke ) they are able to be rebuilt ! How many HO's have they rescued from the Car crusher at wreckers all round the place , that are now sitting in collections and ARE HO's ? I bet you could ask em and they woldnt tell you because NO ONE could pick em !

Technical Contributor: For members who share their technical expertise. - Issue reason: Trev has owned several boosted fords and has really contributed a lot of info on them. His posts in the bike section are also very helpful. I think he should be recognised as a technical contributor.

The plumber with the red Ph 3 has two others.... the metallic blue one FPV used in an ad a few years back (prize winning resto car), as well as a metallic green one (daily driver/unrestored stonechipped to buggery car)

yep u can restore or body swap a car 100 times or more, they are only original unrestored once, these cars are at the top end of the hoey market

of course its still a ho, but its not ESSENTIALLY the same car, as it has different panels to what it came out of the factory with... im ont saying this makes it any less of a car, just that if people go on true originality then they cant say it is...
and yeah, a lot of the repro/aftermarket stuff is better than OEM equipment in certain areas, as they can learn from certain weaknesses, or improve in certain areas...
only the person who either did the work or paid for it would know the whole truth about each car...
you never kow, something might have been swapped over at the dealership or anything, could have fallen off delivery truck, its happened i saw it last year with a 350z...
some people just may not pay 3/4 of a million dollars for a car thats been in a prang and repaired... if i had the choice id buy a totally original car, but right now id buy a ho in any condition...
god knows my xe has probably been repaired more than once, a lot of cars have...

i think its only a minority of cars out there that are totally "original", let alone a piece of history like these...
but whos to know, with some of the shonky dealings that occur under dealership roofs...

true, theres only about a dozen or so good genuine original unrestored ph3 hoeys left..the ones worth the big bucks. the rest are a mixture of high end nice restored cars that probably shouldnt have been restored in the first place or were restored with a no expense spared approach often with other good cars cannibolised along the way to obtain the right parts..also worth big bucks and believe u me 200k spent on this type of resto is nothing at all. then we have the pretend unrestored original cars.. u know the ones, lift the bonnet and the motor still has lots of shiny paint on the cast iron surfaces, wont go on but they are easy to pick if u know how these cars were put together..not worth such big bucks. then we have what i call repo resto cars, sometimes restored by one of the repo resto shops or by the owner with help..these cars are the least original and have usually lost a lot there orig date code parts for what ever reason..worth less again. then we have the body swap cars, wont go there except to say.. worth the least. thats the market in a nut shell, not all hoeys are worth a 750k ask, not many in fact.

Without exception id say OEM stuff is better than repro, in fact the OEM is the CORRECT stuff, regardless of the quality (better or worse) of the repro.

ive found things like brake pads etc to be improved, but you pay more so you cant win...
but you wouldnt buy something like an aftermarket bumper over oem...

lol alright, but good tyres gives the old hoeys an unfair advantage over modern muscle cars. that gets me thinking why do the old jiggers seem to run harder quarter times than they ever did when new, ok i know motor journos couldnt drive a greasey stick up a cat but what else? better tyres would be one reason and funnily enough running higher pressures on good street tyres alone can tip a hoey into the 13s, the tracks are alot better these days too, stickier prep and nice of em to run down hill also, but what else? im talking cars that would pass scuitinneering if the motors were pulled down running in a pure stock drag racing class.
