Lets not forget, Fords king of the mountain accounts for 3/4 of its total sales, Toyota's Hilux accounts for a 1/4 with the Prado, Kluger, Rav4 and Corolla all featuring in the top 20 models and ahead of the next best selling Ford product. Putting all your eggs in one basket only applies to one of the above manufacturers. Don't get me wrong, they're good eggs in a good basket, but that's the reality of it. prydey - no matter what some here think re QC of the Toys, they keep on keeping on......
Barring the diesel dpf issues that most have as well in that/those segments, they all are cheaper build quality compared to the good ol days but myself and others I know have NO other problems....... They are still generally good white goods day to day vehicles. I haven't had a QC issue @ 170thou k's now on mine. Thats life as a toy driver mostly. I'd really like to when to upgrade to a BT50 for as you say Mazda are good as well (wife has a CX5) but BT50's are a poor Ranger so I wouldn't bother but good saving in the pocket. I think I'll go V6 Rok, for I want that power for D4's and everything in that category sucks engine wise imo.

Mondeo at 51 is a very big % hit from the 70-80 it was doing. Restricted range is being felt in the sales.

I'd say the top 10 is exactly that.

And to be fair, the XLS is probably closer in comparison to the LS-M which can be had for $42k d.a. in manual form. Last edited by BENT_8; 04-07-2019 at 09:59 PM. |

So once the PSA products come out of Holden's list that will leave them what 5 models to sell? How much longer past that point can Holden itself last?

Ford sales without ranger, were about the 2,300 figure for the month,
Holden - without Colorado sales were 2,668 for the month... TBH I'm actually shocked that the rest of the Holden products outsold the Ford stable..

top ten model sales by brand,
Toyota = 3 models at sales of 11,191 (2,911 of which would be accounted for new & runout Rav 4) Hyundai = 2 models at sales of 5687 Mazda = 2 models at sales of 5,444 Ford = 1 model at sales of 4851 Kia = 1 model at sales of 2832 Mitsubishi = 1 model at sales of 2695

You completely misread my post.
The elephant in the room is Ranger's success and the pro Holden lot can't stand it. If we had offered that sort of rubbish hypothesis of ignoring the sales of top selling products in Holden's apex years, we would have been laughed off the boards. Yet it's more than acceptable to take a poke at Ford with a product that stands toe to toe with hilux sales. Of more concern should be why even at lower prices Colorado refuses to sell in higher numbers. And I was being sarcastic regarding the claimed diversified sales at Holden, that argument evaporated some time last year.. Last edited by jpd80; 05-07-2019 at 09:39 PM. |

Quantity of vehicles is one measure, revenue and margin is another. If we’re talking hypothetically (if Ford didn’t have the Ranger etc) we could also say if sales revenue was the measure Hyundai would slide down the rankings because most of its sales were cheap i30s compared to the much higher priced Ranger. The distance between Ford and the brands occupying the higher placed rankings would be closer too.

lol the pro holden lot???? you are joking right... & how exactly in that post did I take a shot at ford? love how you ignore the final line of my post " TBH I'm actually shocked that the rest of the Holden products outsold the Ford stable.." all thats been pointed out is the "elephant" in the room as you call it.. Yes the ranger is doing well & good on em, but that is the only Ford product to raise a mention fullstop. Im not blinded with blue glasses unlike some, I'm a realist, For me, with Ranger doing so well there's no reason why ford should not build on its success & get these buyers into other ford products while they are there, support the products that are on offer & try to get better numbers on the rest of the range. The rest of the comparison I made highlighted that the rest of the range should do better than the holden items so the real question to me is why cant ford get better sales numbers on the rest of the range..

Maybe the 7 seat Escape will be Ok to fill the loss if it's offered here however it's a VW Tiguan Allspace size-class. The new Explorer hybrid looks like a ripper, will be available in Europe before the US but it's not RHD ...a Kluger/CX-9/SanteFe competitor but not here....(if I win Lotto I'm going to buy and rhd convert a Lincoln Aviator ) Makes me appreciate my Territory even more... Bean counters taking low volume markets ( in comparison) out of product cycles. I’ve driven an Endura Titanium it’s a nice bit of kit, but it seems it’s fate for this market is sealed. We’ll look at the 2020 Escape next year, the only thing that could be a concern will be shoulder / hip room for the back seat with a baby seat etc. We miss our Territory, it was just brilliant and an amazing vehicle in its time. |

Walk into a dealer. Ford don’t let dealers advertise new cars on carsales haven’t done for 12 months.

Holden is basically selling every car at a loss to move them and keep market share... Ford is relying on Ranger and Mustang both with reasonable margins, the rest they aren’t pushing at a loss..

I get a bit of flak on GM. Sites that begins with, “If we forget about Ranger, Ford sales are terrible, SSO let’s deduct poor selling Colorado so we can make Holden look like a small victory” As I sometimes point out to my GM associates, “If only...” is the preposition of regret.... |

No it’s an internal manufacturer “thing”. Toyota and Holden have been doing it for years.

Hyundai/Kia are a clear runaway success if you consider the platform sharing in their three top 10 cars, i30, Tucson, Cerato. Compare to the platform mess that is Ford and GM even after a decade of One Ford and a near cleansheet GM.
Now the biggest bloody question, how where and when did MG sell over 1000 cars in June???

My Son's girlfriend was in this position recently, looking to finance her first car, she could only get approval for $15k and MG are offering the 3 at $14,990da with $1k cashback included, in the end she found a 2015 Swift RE4 with 20k's for $13k which is a nice car but the MG3 was certainly worth a look if you wanted new at that price point. |
