If it comes with the 3.2 diesel this will be my next car after the falcon. I love the Ranger but don't need a ute. I miss my 4x4 but don't want an old school diesel 60 series / GQ patrol like I had before.

Google it. It looks really nice! Ranger at the front and a nice rear end! BRILLIANT!!!! Love it.

Also thanks for clearing up my previous views on 4x4's, as you've noted wadding depth is now the only worthy measure of 4x4 capability, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a rush on 90/100mm pvc pipe, as any old barge with 5m's of pvc snorkel would beat all other 4x4's including a $250K Range Rover. However I'm just not sure what advantage having a 5m wadding depth would be in the Simpson?
The greatest measure of 4x4 ability is the driver...
A good driver can take softroader further offroad than a bad driver can take a 200 series.

You also havnt based anything youve said on fact. What makes the Everest a softroader exactly?

I'll try to convince the missus to get one too(4x4 hopefully). Not because she wants it, but because I want an Everest without getting rid of the Ranger.

Hope it looks exactly like the picture on the first page.
Awesome looking 4x4. Doesn't look soft at all.

Completely agree with you I would love an Everest and a Ranger in the garage.

Comparing this to a Prado and a Patrol in looks this ***** all over it every day of the week. If you want ugly and soft looking the Colorado 7 is what we should be talking about.

Have you seen the patent image for the China market/Jianling JV version? Talk about horrid.

Designed, engineered in Australia, but build in Thailand, right?

I've seen quite a few Everest (PK Rangers) while in the Philippines a few weeks ago.

I wonder what the pricing will be for the PX Everest?

You must realise that comments like the above suggest you know very little about other countries,
The USA for one is much larger than Australia, and has deserts too, In Thailand where Everest is made they have some pretty nasty Jungle tracks as well.
try driving in places like Russia or Bolivia then you may have an Argument

I think the 3.2 I5 is guaranteed, but Ford has a plethora of engines it can offer as an option, some more likely than others: 2.2 I4 diesel, 3.0 Lion V6 diesel, 4.4 V8 diesel, 3.5 V6 petrol, 5.0 V8 petrol, 2.0L I4 EcoBoost, 2.3L I4 EcoBoost, 2.7 V6 EcoBoost, 3.5 V6 EcoBoost.

I'll take that one please.

Man if Ford offered a 4x4 with a V8 Diesel I would not know what to do.
My I5 is good, but it's no V8

Obviously the US includes Alaska, however if you exclude it considering Canada gets in the way, Australia and the US are very similar in size.

Why do I need to go overseas, we have a vast endless supply plenty of crap road here in Oz. But to make you feel better I have been overseas (a lot).

As for the Everest one thing is certain, it will never be a Toorak or Eastern suburbs tractor because of the stigma of it being a Ford and it relatively low price, it will be just like the Territory targeted to its designated socio-economic sector.

But you know this already, and since you feel so strongly about a innate object, then go ahead and purchase it, I couldn't care less. Don't forget to take lots of photo's of it doing proper 4x4 driving, you may become unique from that perspective

That's not what I was saying to myself when I drove a current model F250 6.7, with the prominent sound of the turbo whistle, and smooth deep distinct sound of a large refined V8 common rail diesel putting out 300kw and 1084Nm. Then when I felt that savage response as I put my foot down, I didn't even seem to care what it sounded like. Then after the auto show I got back in my petrol V8 F150, confirming to me once again, that diesels are better.

V8 diesels sound great, but I think you have to get a slight exhaust mod to let the rumble out a little more.
They almost sound as good as petrol ones. Almost.

Seems you know an awful lot about the Everest being a softroader pos, have you got one already? Nup. Driven one? Nup. Seen one? Nup.

From the limited info I can find, it will have similar running gear to the Ranger, which is not a bad offroader, according to the 4x4 magazines.
But don't listen to their dribble they know nothing about "proper 4x4 driving"

Obviously you already dislike this "innate object".
Let us in on the secret, do you have some insider info that you can let us all on about? or are you just canning it because it's not a toyota?

If its 3/4 as good as a 200 series which the Ranger easily is and half the price, which the Ranger is, it will be excellent value for money and a not half bad offroad vehicle.
