Embarrassingly the news about this GTS review still hasn't been posted on ls1 or justbombadores forums. Yet it's been on a Ford forum for hours.

Not to be negative in any way but..
430kw at the flywheel will be difficult for anyone to prove. I wouldn't be surprised if it had over a hundred kw losses by the time the dyno rollers were spinning....may be even more? |

Seems similar to "real world" testing of its US stablemates.

Yes in a HSV thread that has already been there months. Yet every new bit of info drip fed from Holden has to have it's own new thread every single time on here. This should be compiled in to one of the other 45837363 HSV threads on here.

Next you will complain about how many posts there are in this HSV thread while ignoring the fact that nearly 8% of posts in here are yours

Ford arent going to have any cars soon, so im interested in how it does go, and if magazines are getting 12.3 it will be an 11 second stock car, **** they reckon my F6 was only good for 13.0 and i ran 12.3

I'd usually count on 18-20% loss through the driveline, so 340-350kW at the treads should be about right.

If so that's a poor result. Just proves you can have all the power in the world but if you can't put it down to the ground it's useless. Either that or the quoted power figures are absolute rubbish, which being HSV would not surprise me at all. No one has ever got anywhere near HSV's quoted times either so they can be ignored. I'll bet that bottle of Grange HSV had on offer for anyone who could match their quoted times for one of their models 5 or more years ago, is still sitting there gathering dust, as no one could get within half a second of it. |

Apparently that 4.7 was with a manual gearbox & that is the fastest time they got out of it. Consistantly did 4.8 but couldn't beat a 4.7, which is undoubtably fast, but I think many expected more.
Lets see what others can get out of it!

"HSV claims the new GTS can do the 0 to 100km/h dash in 4.4 seconds with automatic transmission (yes, it’s faster than the manual off the line, but the manual is faster once you’re already on the move). The best 0 to 100 times we could get out of the manual were a string of easily achievable 4.7-second runs." http://www.carsguide.com.au/news-and...aign=editorial |

We are so embarrassing.
The Fastest R Spec measure by Mags was 4.5 something - it was an Auto Most have been in the 4.8 to 4.9 range. I dont know of a manual that has gone under 4.8. So with the 1st time available with a manual (that HSV is saying is the slower variant) is 4.7 we get people jumping on it. Give it a few weeks/surfaces/drivers and I think we will see a 4.4 - and well done to them if we do.

Jon, we aren't embarrissing, some are embarrissing!
R spec this, R spec that, it's a bloody GTS thread, period. People saying that under 5 in a manual is dissappinting... they obviously aint driven, yet alone raced a seriously powerful manual trans car! Seriously powerful manual trans cars are NOT easy to launch. Excep if you're an internet expert apparently. Place is full of em.

why is everyone expecting 0~100 in 4's or 1/4 in 12~11?
for every 100kw will only yield 0.5 off the 1/4 and 0.1 off 0~100 times...

You always run a faster time on the drag strip than you do in a real 400 meter test. Being of course because the drag strip is not a standing start, depending on where you stage it can make a huge difference.
Whatever the tested times are, your personal quarter mile will be quicker, all cars do that. |

I love reading opinions via this forum... it is actually quite humorous...
If that clunker had a Ford badge on it - the majority would be beating their chest about a 'sub 4.5s 0-100km/h' time... Anyways, keep it up... it sure makes my friday arvo

what gets me is they didn't post any lap times....and we know they have GT lap times around there and they destroy previous hsv times.
Rear end is still hideous... Poor Fail if the interior is full of PLASTIC Till someone PROVES its the fastest aussi e made car....SHUT THE HELL up stupid journos. They of all people should know in the real world know one can replicate claimed hsv times....yet fords times are on the money everytime. Lets gets some real tests ad comparos for crying out loud....its been long enough...and im sick of hearing fastest this and best that.......when I see it ill believe it. Did I mention its still looks ugly like me |

Seriously quick car. In fact at 12.3 it's 0.1 quicker over the quarter than my stock GTE :-D

I think people get too wrapped up in the straight line sprint. HSV have gone to the effort of making the GTS about much more than the age old "mine is two tenths quicker than yours" mentality that plagues Aussie car culture. It could have the 6.2 NA in it and I would still want one. My XR6T has only ever cracked 12s, but I enjoy it for all the suspension work I've done to it which has made it a great driver's car. Blasting through the mountains in a well set up package is about as much fun as you can have in a car. HSV is offering this experience straight out of the showroom, yet so many people are only looking at what it can do in a straight line. That's like buying a powerful computer just to play Hearts.
Recognising how good the GTS package is doesn't make you a Ford traitor, it just means you're a car enthusiast. As much as I'm attracted to the GTS, you could just as easily buy a 65 kay GT, spend $10k on springs/shocks/bushes/bars, wider rear wheels, good rubber and still be ahead of the GTS from a value standpoint. It's just impressive that HSV seems to have done it straight out of the box, with the addition of all the cooling which if you've ever pushed hard, you know the car needs around a circuit (or an extended mountain road), plus the torque vectoring which I'm yet to try but it sounds awesome. |
