I look at the "fuel pump handle" to make sure I am getting ultimate, and I imagine diesel owners would do it to make sure they are getting diesel

some people care about what is going in their tanks, everybody else goes to united

Just saw the latest Ford TV add with Fiesta, Focus & Mondeo... Isnt nice!! Pretty difference to what they have done in the past & they are backing up the TV add with the same message at the fuel pump signs.. Maybe having an MD with a marketing background is not such a bad thing after all.

I agree. Playing nice hasn't worked at all. It's about time Ford grew a pair.

Pretty fortunate timing for the present ad campaign, given the fuel prices at the moment.

Advertising is about getting people in the door, on the phone or talking about the product. You then need the support. Hopefully Ford have cracked down on those dodgy dealers.

As for the advertising, it's great. What a great idea, have never seen it on the pumps in Toowoomba before but for Ford to get on it quickly is great. On a bad note, maybe it's already here but I've not taken notice of it! Just saw a new TV advert for the Fiesta ECONetic, Mondeo TDCI and Focus LX about saving money, was actually quite good. We're seeing glimmers of hope here guys, Ford is getting their act together.

Ford have rights to the goal post padding and all the signage around the ground, theres even a big blue Ford Stand. Toyota own the turf.

So? The most successfull marketing move of the last decade was the BA drip feed, and that lasted for the best part of a year. Nothing wrong with reminding people it's on the way.

I filled up my van tonight. I only looked at how fast the dollars could tick over at $1.55 per litre.

The only advertising I read was a very large sign blocking the doorway for ice cream. I started to make comment about the sign to the attendant so he chipped in "sorry sir we haven't got them yet"

New windscreen branding for Ford V8 teams

Tuesday 10th May, 2011

V8 Supercars team with official Ford backing may have a number of different windscreen branding changes over the coming events.

The Ford Motor Company is having three major product launches this year – Focus, Territory and Ranger – and the blue oval is going to use its V8 Supercars sponsorship to promote the new cars.

At Winton Motor Raceway today, all three Ford Performance Racing Falcons have ‘New Territory’ as their windscreen stripes. The Territory is the first of the new vehicles to be launched, with the Focus set to be unveiled in August.

It is expected that all of the Ford teams will use the Territory branding at Winton’s V8 event in two weeks (May 20-22).

Ford motorsport manager Chris Styring says that using the windscreen of the Ford V8 Supercars is the perfect way to get its message across to the fans – both at the track and on television.

“We’ve got a really important year with the Territory and a number of other new and exciting products being launched,” Styring told Speedcafe.com.

“We’re using the branding on the V8 Supercars as it is a valuable advertising medium. We’re just throwing around some creative ideas that we may roll out in the next few race meetings.

“It all depends on how strong we see them being on the windscreen.

“We understand that people that go to V8 Supercars races and watch it on television are families – young guys and young girls. We’re just testing out some new branding and creative treatments and we’ll decide on that after the test.”

Gotta say I have been impressed by the recent Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo ad. Also, we recently got a courtesy call as our car was up for the 'yearly anniversary' of its purchase. Great follow up. I was able to tell Ford what we liked, disliked, how the car had performed (SY Territory and fantastic performance, practicality and value with few faults so far), and at the same time they updated dealer details, then asked if we would like to try a test drive of the new model which is nearing release. Top stuff... Ford asked if I would wish the dealer to call regarding a test drive and to discuss trade in values, and within 5 minutes of the Ford call ending the dealer was on the line. I can't fault marketing like this.

It seems that advertising a car that will be here later this year could very well be a smart option...creating demand of a product that is yet to be released with some nifty marketing, could possibly have a positive impact on the Falcon brand, promote some more sales, and get people geared up to 'order one today'...

Ford did it with BA, Holden did it with VY, every man and his dog knew VE was comming, didn't affect sales for any of the previous models. Drip feeding works, many companies do it, why not create hype?

For a brand new model I can understand, not a series update.

How long since anyone has seen a TV advert for the Ford Falcon...?

Tv is loaded with ads for the Commodore in it's various guises and for various special deals...but I can't remember the last time I saw a Falcon advert.

Bad marketing to just rely on repeat business nowadays...if you aren't in the publics face, you'll be forgotten...
